What About Hatton and His Legacy?

We talk alot about what happends to fighters if they win a fight and we talk alot about guys legacies but we dont really talk about Hatton. Lets just say for a second, what if Hatton beats Pac? What would your official thoughts on him be? Where would you put him on the P4P list, how much does his legacy change, would you consider him an ATG or atleast one of the best 140 pounders of All Time? Would your opinion of him totally change?

A win over Pacquiao would definitely help his legacy but I think he'll go down as a very good fighter but not great, one of those fighters who will probably be remembered more for their social impact than what they did in the ring but these things are best talked about after a fighter has retired.

I would never consider Hatton an ATG! However if he does pull off an upset like that convincingly then he would be considered p4p.

Hatton really hasn't got a bad CV, there's been boxers in the past retired getting cred fighting worst compeition throughout their career, primarily American..no suprise there.

If and (it's a very big if) Hatton beat Pac at 140 it would establish him as p4p top 5 (I just don't see how he could be denied that except by the brain-dead) and one of the best ever at the weight.

He would need to win a rematch against PBF to become an ATG, but that would make him an ATG... not to mention the undisputed p4p #1. I just can't see it happening.

Hatton gets alot of credit from me if he beats Pac. I already respect him enough though

Ricky Hatton will be remembered as a great guy and one hell of a fighter. Not an ATG, maybe one of the best at 140, we'll see.

The thing is that, Hatton has yet to make his legacy. He's still young and at least has 4 or 5 fights left in him. If he beats Pacman and ends his career with 1 or 2 losses, we might talk differently about Hatton. Imagine if he ends his career with 1 loss to Floyd Mayweather, that would be pretty amazing.
