Fres Oquendo To Protest Loss To James Toney With CSAC

Heavyweight contender Fres Oquendo will file a formal protest with the California State Athletic Commission to review the split decision rendered by the judges in last Saturday's fight with former three division champion James Toney. Oquendo hopes the commission will order an immediate rematch or change the result to a no-contest. [details]

I don't think he'll get anything out of it, won't hurt to try I guess.

Oquendo was clearly robbed. Incompetent and crooked judging hurts the sport.

Americans complain about judging in Germany, but I've seen more unfair decisions in the US than anywhere else.

Nothing will compare to the Sven Ottke vs Robin Reid scandal.

It was the worst officiating and judging in all of boxing.

Have you ever actually watched the fight, or are you just repeating what others say?

Ottke vs. Reid was very similar to Dawson vs. Johnson. It was actually a close fight, with Reid winning the late rounds. We call that a gift decision.

The worst officiating I've ever seen was the draw in Lewis vs. Holyfield I, when Lennox clearly won every round, or the decision in Casamayor vs. Santa Cruz. We call those robberies.

I don't think you've seen the Ottke/Reid fight. The ref deducted a point from Reid when he was beating the hell out of him.

Good for him. It's about time he stood up for his rights. He's been getting robbed throughout his career - like vs. Byrd and Ruiz.

I only saw 5 rounds of this fight, it was so bad I stopped watching. And because it stunk I couldnt concentrate enough to really score it properly...

I especially liked the part where Reid got warned for punching Ottke in the face.

I had James winning 116-112. just kidding. Toney doesnt need to fight him again, and the way he looked he shouldnt. better go for the better payday James. I still love Toney no matter what though
