Morel was supposed to do more then what he did in boxing but he still did good by becoming champion by beating a good fighter. But M.Castillo schooled him badly. But i think if he goes back to his punching boxing style and be more aggressive he could take Penosula but he hs to be willing to engage. I havn't seen him fight in his comback but just before he went in he didn't like to mix it as much as he would in the begining of his career and even then he boxed more then he mixed up with his opponet.

Morel is a tiny guy and some 14 year olds look much older then they represend. I know my brothers girlfriends, sister, ****ed some guy that was 20 years old and at the time she was like 15 and the cops found out and they tried get her to talk but when she talked she said she pressured him and she ****ed him, lol, true story.

The Morel story i don't know the details but i doubt he did that Morel had a clean look and was well respected by everybody as being a humble guy.

Now, some may not remember and even i dont' remember his name. But there was a Canadian fighter Crusierweight fighter that went to jail for supposedly raping his daughter. But again i don't know the detail about this one.

Boxer Morel sent to prison for sexual assault

        00:00 am 10/12/05
        ED TRELEVEN madison.com

Eric Morel's months-long wait to get back into a boxing ring will continue for at least two more years. On Tuesday a judge sentenced the former world flyweight champion to prison for his role in the sexual assault of an unconscious 15- year-old girl at a Fitchburg apartment in 2002.

The former Olympic athlete from Madison wept and bowed his head in apparent anger and disbelief as Dane County Circuit Judge William Foust ordered a two-year sentence, followed by two years of extended supervision. Morel fought for the U.S. in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, losing his first-round bout.

        The prison term was unexpected.

As part of a plea agreement reached last summer, Dane County District Attorney Brian Blanchard had not sought a prison sentence for Morel, 30, who pleaded no contest to second-degree sexual assault of a child. Like Blanchard, the state Department of Corrections recommended a sentence of five years of probation with a year in the Dane County Jail as a condition of probation.

Foust expressed some astonishment at the Department of Corrections recommendation. He said probation would diminish the seriousness of the crime.

"This kind of sexual contact with a passed-out 15-year-old girl is too shocking and too outrageous," Foust told Morel. "It's a set of facts where I have to say a line is drawn here, and you've gone beyond it."

Before he was sentenced, Morel choked up several times as he apologized to the victim, who was in the courtroom Tuesday.
        Advertisement:

"This case is not about me, it's about the harm that I have caused the victim," Morel said. "As much as the public may think that I am doing this to benefit myself, the fact is that I have a daughter, I have a sister and a mother that I would never want to see hurt."

Morel asked Foust to place him on probation with, if necessary, six months of house arrest so that he could continue to care for his daughter and stepdaughter "and whatever the court thinks I need to do to soften the pain and damage of the victim."

But the victim, now 18, wrote in a letter to Foust that the incident has completely changed her life.

"I have such a lack of trust and faith in all that I have ever felt or believed in," she wrote. "I'm still very sick about it all, I'm still very sad, still very upset and I will never, ever forget what has happened to me and I don't think I ever will."

She wrote that after the incident she tried to toughen herself by signing up for the Wisconsin National Guard Challenge Academy but missed being with her family. She also wrote that she was frightened by threats from Morel's brother Samuel Morel, who was in the Dane County Jail at the same time as her father.

"They were telling my dad that they were going to 'set your daughter out,' " the victim wrote.

Samuel Morel, 37, was also charged in the assault but his case was dismissed in August after prosecutors learned that they would have difficulty proving he took part in it. Morel's half-brother, Frederick Perez- Santos, 25, has pleaded no contest to second-degree sexual assault and will be sentenced later.

According to a criminal complaint, the girl and a friend met the three men at a now-defunct bar on State Street on Nov. 30, 2002. The victim told police that she only recalls leaving the bar and waking up the next day with a swollen lip and pain between her thighs. But her friend said she saw Eric Morel kissing and touching the victim and later saw him among a group of men standing around her. Prosecutors allege that EricMorel's DNA was found on the girl and on a shirt that she was wearing that night.
Morel's Nevada boxing license was suspended in July because of his conviction.

His longtime girlfriend, Francisca Padilla, told the judge Tuesday that Morel has been able to fight so little that she earns most of the money for their household. She said that dealing with the public humiliation and guilt has been "beyond any punishment" that Foust could give Morel.

"I can't even imagine anything more than what we have already gone through," she said.

Morel's father and trainer, Cirilio Morel, said his son could become a world champion again, if Foust would give him the opportunity.

Morel is now the world's 11th-ranked superflyweight, according to *********.com, and is the World Boxing Organization's 12th-ranked junior bantamweight. He won the World Boxing Association flyweight title in August 2000 in Madison with a decision over champion Sornpichai Pisnurachank and successfully defended it five times before losing by unanimous decision to Lorenzo Parra in Puerto Rico in December 2003. He last fought on March 19, when he lost a bout for the World Boxing Association superflyweight crown to Martin Castillo.

One Question... what was a 15 year old doing in a bar???? Do they admit minor in bars in US???

Morel still has great condition. I think he will beat Penalosa and become World Champion again. I saw his fight in the Calderon- Cazares II undercard (I was there) and he showed that he still has great boxing habilities. Still has punching power... he seems like he is getting better with age. Wish him the best...

**** man.. what he did sounds worse than I thought. Now I really don't give a **** what happens to him. Pile of ****!

Though if a guy like that can make a living anywhere it's defintely here in boxing. We got all types of scumbags infesting this place including murderers and other rapists. He certainly wouldn't be the first one.

Hey I dont like to defend people who **** children and that **** but if you see it this way... If I come into a bar and meet a woman who is there the last thing I would think is that she is a minor. There arent supposed to be people under 18 o 21 allowed there. If the man did it, it is wrong but we cant blame it all on him. What was the girl doing in the ****ing bar? The rest of the things she says are obviously not objective. So now everything she says is true? No, man we have to consider her and his points of view.

And as I said, I like the guy as a boxer, I'm not defending what he did but **** the man paid, he is trying to fix things, if you dont like him, fine, but dont hate on him.
