What boxing needs is more white american boxers, like pavlik then the white youth would get more interested in it again, people need fighters they can relate to, and in boxing espcially america the majorty of american boxers are black hispanic mixed race etc, theirs hardly any white elite guys, you look at ufc and theirs white americans from every part of the us fighting, they can relate to guys like liddel etc

IMO, the UFC is MMA, the other companies are like minor leagues...

as far lesnar, he only counts for this year... what about the two previous years where the UFC had 7 out of 10 top PPV's...

Liddel was the man back then, when he fell off they had to replace him. They did not do it from within the company, so they are not building up young talents into mega stars. Some of the guys are stars that they built up, but look at the numbers Brock clearly is the bigger star.

If you want to drink UFC kool-aid feel free. Things are not all rosey for them, they have tons of issues (they should really compensate the fighters better before this becomes a giant issue, that could kill them).

Boxing is doing well in the UK.

That's cus the British is a classy, distinguished society.

Anyways, the reason why Boxing is "spiraling down", which is exageratting, but it's because of the PPV's.

I'll give the UFC credit that you don't hear many MMA fans paying PPV saying: "that was a waste of money". That's all you hear when people pay for Boxing. I didn't think De La Hoya/Pacquiao was a waste of money.

I can almost garauntee that if a high level of boxing were on free TV or cable at the minumum, boxing rates will go up. But then again, the greedy fat cat promoters won't be making billions of dollars.

So what's more important? Promoting and preserving a historical combat art. Or making millions of dollars.

Hmmmm.....in America that isn't even a question.

All these Era's Brought about the highest paydays of their time and then were surpassed by the following KING...

Dude, No one in america can name NCAA wrestling champions (unless maybe they go to or went college in Iowa). I know he was a great ameture wrestler, but he is famous because of the WWE. They built him up, to be next big thing.

If he was just some big dude I am sure UFC fans would like him, but he would not be drawing the audiences he is. His name is known because the WWE this can not be disputed.


Also why did they give Brock a very large contract before he had ever had a UFC fight, if the WWE played no part in his fame.

I agree 100%..If Kurt Angle was in the UFC i would assume that he would be a much bigger draw than Brock Lesnar....MUCH bigger.. Vince McMahon already made Brock into a superstar and thats what Dana [deepdown vinces biggest fan] capitalized on, simple as that..If Angle was in the UFC [no matter how bad shape he's in] i wonder what deeval79 would say then..

Yeah its one of the reasons, boxing in america is dominated by blacks, hispanics, mixed race kids, its big in black comunitys and latin comunitys, when you only have one white american boxer at the top level then you have to ask yourself why is that????? and why is the UFC so popular??? look at all their fans their all white guys from 18-40, they have white fighters from every part of the us, if the ufc was like boxing where it was dominated by blacks and hispanics etc and you only had about 2 white guys in it and none of them could ever make it to being the pound for pound best, them fans would all lose interest as well.

back then there was no MMA/UFC.... the trend has been set now for the past 3 years.... at one time the big 3 automakers ruled the market, now they're beggin for a bailout... boxing is in trouble....
