Pacquiao foes set to attend birthday bash

Manny Pacquiao is going the extra mile in making his 30th birthday celebration on Wednesday truly unforgettable.
Apart from Top Rank head Bob Arum and trainer Freddie Roach, Pacquiao also extended his invitation to former foes and victims Marco Antonio Barrera, David Diaz, Juan Manuel Marquez and Erik Morales.
So far Barrera, Diaz and even Edwin Valero, the undefeated knockout king from Venezuela who might one day become a Pacman opponent, have confirmed their attendance when Pacquiao turns another leaf before an all-star cast of visitors at the General Santos City Convention Center, according to Pacquiao’s personal secretary Bren Evangelio.
Legend Oscar De La Hoya won’t be around since he has retreated back to his home in Puerto Rico to lick the wounds that Pacquiao inflicted last Dec. 6 in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao’s big day is so big that President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo will be in attendance.
On Dec. 19, Pacquiao will proceed to his birthplace in Bukidnon province for the Pacquiao family reunion, added Evangelio.
From there, Pacquiao will likely fly to Manila for some more commitments in time for his departure for Los Angeles on Dec. 21 or 23 so he can reunite with wife Jinkee, who is due to deliver anytime.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao’s close associate Wakee Salud said the May date that Arum floated is perfect for the Filipino icon.
Salud said the opponent should be British Ricky Hatton, not Zab Judah or even Floyd Mayweather.
"Hatton is the ideal opponent," said Salud when told about Arum’s plans that Judah is also being looked at as a possible rival for May 2 or May 9.
Arum said he will discuss the details of Pacquiao’s next fight this week so he’ll have an idea on what to do once he gets back to Las Vegas.
