Tito hardly speaks any English. Tito is just more reveared among Puerto Ricans , but among general Boxing fans Tito is one of the most disrespected superstars of the 90's.

Cotto is a star in the Latin world. That prolly doesn't mean much to you, but Latinos and Hispanics have 2 worlds they get a chance to be part of. For example, Paulina Rubio had some minute crossover succes in the American market with her music, but it fizzled. In the Latin world, she is still a huge huge star.



Point in, fighters like Cotto will always have a following one way or the other. I do agree with you on Chad not being very articulate. You can tell he's from the hood and wasn't around a lot of people with extended vocabularies. That is not his fault. But Tyson sounded like a damn idiot everytime he opened his mouth. "My spinal".

I thnk when we say "Star", we aren't talking about fighters who trancend the sport anymore. I think few boxers will ever be able to do that again. But he will be one of the fighters who are the face of boxing. Fighters who will become well known because of their exciting fights.

The main reason I like Joe Calzaghe is because I have been watching him so long, especially the dark old times after Eubank and Benn etc... when all our boxers where in essence on a world stage f.ucking ****e, he was a shining light and at the top of his division, even if he was taking the piss out of people who didn't deserve to be in the ring with him.
