Please don't start with the Legendary Nights "Leonard ducked Pryor" nonsense.

Anyway, I'm still inclined to make Pryor the slight favorite over Manny @ 140.

leonard was at light welter in the ams...... there's a reason he moved up to 147 before the olympics.

and no it wasn't because he couldn't make weight......

I'm not talking about what Butch Lewis said about their amateur careers. I don't especially care either.

I'm talking about the pro careers.

Leonard was busy fighting top welterweights and even a top junior middleweight. Somehow since an HBO documentary shows Pryor "calling out" Leonard and Leonard didn't fight him, it translates to "oh my god, Leonard was scared of Pryor and ducked him".

pryor was the man at 140 from 1980 to 1985.

leonard was the man at 147 from 1979 to 1984.

this fight could've been made. pryor wanted it. why didn't it get made?

i'm not saying ray is scared or a ducker or anything but this fight could have and should have been made.

yes he was fighting duran and hearns but that's only 3 fights. i think in 4-5 years he could have found a time to fight pryor.

Leonard retired in 1982. He came back in 1984 at 154 lbs.

Leonard "could have" fought Pryor, but a welterweight champ has no obligation to fight an 140 lb. champ. If Pryor had made some noise at welterweight, then that's a different story.
