Why does Hopkins say racist comments...

I think above all Hopkins should be thankful for the sport of boxing. He tries to act like he is a better man because he came from prison and made his life better. If it were not for boxing he would still be in a prison somewhere. It irritates me because I start to like hopkins until I hear him talk.

Watching the Pavlik fight I was excited for Hopkins he accomplished a lot. Then afterwards he walked over to Pavlik and what started out good as a talk to tell him to keep his head up. He had to be a dip**** again and bring race into it. Was it really needed? I dont think Pavlik needed to "fight like a black person" to beat the black fighters he has in the past.

You guys can argue it all you want, but from the way Hopkins talks you can tell he thinks white people are inferior when it comes to fighting.

I dont think he was being condescending when he said to Pavlik that he should fight like a black fighter.

When one thinks of great black fighters from the past, guys like Ali, Robinson, Leonard, Whitaker, spring to mind. All these fighters showed tremendous lateral movement during their careers, something that Pavlik distinctly lacked when he fought Hopkins.

It's who Hopkins is... he doesn't care who he disrespects. He's a bully. His motto is "if you don't like what I said, do something about it".

It's really that simple. He's not a racist though.

You do understand that by calling Taylor an Uncle Tom he was being racist in doing so? Basically degrading him because he thinks he acts like a white person. So yeah, the comment was made towards a black person but the definition of it is a derogatory term towards black people that are ok with white people basically. Its like a white person calling another white a ******, which is degrading to both the white person and blacks because you are saying its wrong to act like them and try to be black.

As I said before Hopkins should be very thankful he was blessed with boxing ability because with his attitude he would still be in prison if not for boxing.
