By Cliff Rold - Should he win Thursday night’s battle with Poland’s 32-year old Tomasz Adamek (35-1, 24 KO), the also 32-year old Steve Cunningham (21-1, 11 KO) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania will leave the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey with his second IBF title defense, a new Ring Magazine belt, and pretty much undisputable right to call himself the Cruiserweight champion of the world. The CW's can use every good fight they can get, and this should be good. I think Adamek will take a UD. Dude's been on a tear at CW. -
Steve Cunningham has a height and reach advantage over Adamek, and I think that will be the difference in this fight. Steve's reach is 82", that's longer than the Klitschkos, Vitali's is 80" and Wlad 81".
Cunningham will likely win a UD, probably something like 117-111, utilizing his long arms to use the jab and keep Adamek at bay.Comment

If Calzaghe says that Dawson isn't a big enough name, then even though it would be for the recognized cruiserweight crown, Cunningham isn't even close name-wise. I like the idea of Hopkins moving up, but Im up here at the fight with a relatively young cruiserweight who plans on making a bout with the winner. We'll see what happens, he had lunch with King yesterday, and if he sells his soul to him, King might give him the winner down the line when the fight means nothing after both have lost.Comment

Cunningham is poo but Adamaek (As drained as any fighter in history) dropped a close DEC to the highly over-rated Dawson.

A... close decision? You mean eleven rounds to one? Chad was being close to KO'd for about 90 seconds one round, but that is as close as it got. Adamek wasn't weight drained for the fight either. He moved up because he realized he couldn't compete in that division. Are you just making stuff up?
Anyway, Cunningham should win but Adamek is a good fighter and a live underdog. Cunningham clinches a lot, but he also seems to make interesting fights. Adamek's cruiserweight run has been explosive, so this could be highly entertaining.Comment

I want to see Cunningham win, he's capable of pulling it off, likely by majority decision. I won't complain if Adamek wins, both are likeable guys, and the Poles need a champion, since Andrew Golota disapointed them sorely. If Cunningham wins, I'd like to see him become undisputed champ, probably by first beating new WBC champ0 Giacobbe Fragomeni, he's already beaten new WBA champ Guillermo Jones, though he and Jones might be open to a rematch.Comment

Good story but I have to hugely disagree with a couple of points.
Cunningham is just too big for these guys I think. I feel that Hopkins and Calzaghe won't fight near the 200 mark. I think they would basically be fat and out of shape. Dawson? Hmmm. I doubt it. A move to cruiser won't be for a few years.Comment
