yeah, 2 things that I love to do while I'm boxing, one is lead with the straight left and two is wait for my opponent to come with straight punches and counter with the left uppercut. We have some advantages for being lefties.

For the most part it is normally if you are left or right handed. If you are a lefty you go southpaw, if you are right handed you go Orthodox. There are of course exceptions of people who are just more comfortable the other way (Miguel Cotto, Kevin Reynolds, Oscar de la Hoya)

it's depends on how you feel. a trainer will probably make you fight southpaw.

there are a few southpaws at my gym who are naturally right handed. But they say that this gives them an advantage because their right hooks and jabs are more powerful.

Check out the Training and Nutrition forum for more general training tips.

The majority of people who fight southpaw now a days ain't even real southpaws.
They say fight in whatever way you are most comfortable but I would recommend you fight in the way you are supposed to naturally... unless you are really good at throwing with both hands! The last thing you need is to be a one handed fighter. I'm orthodox but I like to switch it around sometimes and practice in both.. it's nice to know how to throw from both angles and you never know.. it might come in handy one day!

It depends on which stance you feel most comfortable in, some left handers feel more comfortable fighting orthodox, some right handers feel more comfortable fighting southpaw so a lot depends on how you feel.
