And he had the gall to say he was a real champion, despite only REALLY being a champion since winning over Bernard Hopkins.
Prior to that, he had almost NO good wins or legitimate opponents.
Calzaghe really is pathetic, i hope he comes back and fights a real fighter like Dawson and he gets his ass kickedComment

And NOW he has the AUDACITY to call HIMSELF a real fighter, while calling DLH a fake fighter.
WTF???? Is he SERIOUSLY unaware of the fact that for over a decade he held some paper weight title and didnt fight a single significant fight until 2005??????
God, he is such a jokeComment

Joe Calzaghe: "I think boxing is a dying sport."
LONDON -- Joe Calzaghe believes boxing is on the ropes, with too many champions and few real stars.
Still weighing whether he'll retire after beating Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr. this year to remain unbeaten in 46 fights, Calzaghe said Wednesday he was glad he was almost on the way out of the sport instead of just starting out.
"I think boxing is a dying sport. Globally -- in America for instance -- you've got UFC, which has taken a lot off boxing, business-wise," Calzaghe said, referring to the mixed martial arts Ultimate Fighting Championship.
The Welshman who held the WBO super middleweight world title for more than 10 years before moving up to light heavyweight to fight Hopkins and Jones also said boxing has its own problems.
"There is too much politics in boxing, too many belts and too many champions, which dilutes real champions like myself," he said. "There are four world champions in each division and it's bad because there are no stars any more. It's a big problem."
Calzaghe also noted that the United States won only one medal at the Beijing Games -- a bronze by heavyweight Deontay Wilder -- which points to a grim future for American boxing.
"America only had one medalist in the Olympics this year," Calzaghe said. "In Britain, we did pretty good, but I'm glad I'm ending my career and not starting it because I don't think it's going to be that great in the future."Comment

Didn't I say I liked Haye? Why would it grate me? I'm not an insecure idiotic nuthugging ****wad like some people *ahem*. I think Haye has way more potential than a guy like Chris, the only people who think he's great are Mexicans. But then again despite the potential and the fact that I find him entertaining to watch I still think Haye has some serious flaws that will be exposed against guys like the Klit brothers who like it or not are clearly far and away the best right now. I mean I like them, so what's the deal with that? I thought I was a biased Yank? But I like three non Americans (and one brit) in the heavy division? **** man, there are even COMMENTS IN THIS THREAD that say that Haye is not a bum and he's good but has not proven enough YET in response to your dorky accusations.
Why would I care about Lacy? He never beat anyone other than a shot Robin Reid (remember that guy?) and generally there were nuthuggers on this board that thought he was awesome. Who cares? The big reason he was a betting favorite against Joe was not him, but the thin nature of Joe's resume before facing him AND the fact that Joe had pulled out of fights before (and the Lacy fight twice). No one knew about him because he had a fringe title and had beaten only a few name guy in his backyard. Wahoo. Who gives a ****? Those people were clearly wrong, and lacy was vastly overrated. Again, why would this grate anyone?
I have never said Calzaghe is a 'bum'. He's an undefeated world champ and boxing is a deep sport, it takes work to get there. He deserves credit and is a very good fighter, I've said that over and over again. I don't like the guy but I know what I see, he has a lot of heart IN the ring.
His fans however are insane. And Calzaghe himself is overrated - and no I don't feel like rehashing all the reasons why. There is a difference between "bum" and "Fraud" vs. "overrated" so don't freak out too much.Comment
