Do you believe fighters do this......

Do you believe fighters do this or have done in the past .......fight below par to make potential oponents think the are easy pickings so they can secure a fight

I know Muhammad Ali took Frazier 3rd time because he thought he was shot, im not saying Frazier was trying to look garbage prior to that to get a fight with Ali though

But do you believe this happens or has happened....... if so when and who? i know i might sound crazy but i have a feeling Shane Mosley is going to look a 100 times better when he fights Margarito than he did against Mayorga. Then it sounds like im saying Shane was trying to fix the fight with Mayorga, but he cant have been doing that cause he was about to drop a clear decision untill he ko'ed him in the 12

i dont know what do you guys think

I read in "Fire and Fury" that Jose Torres used to carry opponents so the commission wouldn't force him to leap up too soon in competition.

Kevin Johnson says that he likes to fight one dimensional because he doesn't want to show everything until he gets a title shot.

I think so, but i think they call it fighting to your opponets level. Least announcers used to say that on some occasions. And sometimes its understandable as its not a big fight and they think there supposed to win easy and sometimes they have to fight harder then they figured on even terms.
