Can someone explain to me why De La Hoya sells out crowds, and is the biggest PPV attraction, or whatever you wanna call it?
Even when he was going down hill, people still lined up to watch this guy fight.Comment

This would be great but I still don't see boxing becoming mainstream until the media coverage changes. Everything runs through ESPN now, and if they don't cover it, the average sports fan doesn't know about it. Another thing is PPV. You talk about PPV numbers but that doesn't really equate to being mainstream. Boxing will always have hardcore fans that order PPV, but for the most part it's too much of a die hard's sport. Until we see less PPV and more national coverage, it's going to remain the same. Also if you look at those events you're talking about, I bet you the average sports fan could only recognize 2-5 of those names up there. David Haye vs. Klitchko? I bet you 90% or more of sports fans don't even know who David Haye is. Don't get me wrong, I want nothing more than to see boxing become a major national sport again, but PPV is the wrong avenue.I just thought of how unbeleivably great 09 could be...
Margarito vs Mosley - hbo
Hatton vs Pacquiao - ppv (1 million buys )
Cotto vs Margarito 2- ppv (500,000 buy)
Marquez vs Juan Diaz -hbo
Haye Vs Klitsko-ppv ( 250,000 buys)
Mayweather vs Pacquioa - ppv ( 1.8-2.4 million buys.......Comment

He worked for it and earned it. Good looks, attitude, class, skill, and likeability. Name me 3 other boxers that have all that right now.Comment
