He is the filipino with the most title fights in history. Before Pacquiao, he was considered to be second only to Pancho Villa.

You might have only started following Filipino fighters around when Pacquiao came up, but Filipinos have been winning world titles for a long time.

Flash Elorde and Pancho Villa are the two Filipino fighters enshrined in the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Elorde as a very popular fighter in the 50s and 60s and rose to prominence as a lightweight and junior lightweight champion, including a win over Sandy Saddler. He is considered one of the top 3-4 greatest junior lightweights of all-time.

Villa died very young, I think 24, but he was a great flyweight who ended the long reign of Jimmy Wilde via KO, who is considered the greatest flyweight ever.

Other notable Filipinos include Luisito Espinosa, who won titles at bantamweight and featherweight, Dodie Boy Penalosa, Cefarino Garcia (the only Filipino middleweight champion), Rolando Navarette and Jesus Salud.

Read the rest of the thread buddy, because what you just said has nothing to do with the post you quoted.

I've already elaborated on Flash and Pancho.

                Dodie Boy Penalosa?

Other than Gerry Penalosa, these are the only notable guys of the 90s, other than Luisito Espinosa.

Espinoza i've heard about. i think he's still here in SF boxing/training or something. Dodie boy? I don't think i've seen him in action.

That's such a filipino nickname. Dodie Boy, Sean Boy, Bu boy. LoL.

It's not often noted that the reason Elorde is so revered goes beyond his in-ring accomplishments. He was also a noted philanthropist, having built schools, orphanages and gyms with his career earnings.

I think Pancho Villa died of a mouth infection when he went on a drinking binge shortly after tooth surgery.
