They did a whole article on him in one of the non ring boxing mags about a month ago. I believe he ran across Japanese military lines as a boy and eventually became a world champion.

I'm familiar with the article. But i've heard his name in the Filipino community for like a couple years (during Pacquiao's rise) Plus, "Flash" Elorde fought in SF...it was kinda like his home base. But i live out here so naturally you'd hear stuff like that.
