    1. De La Hoya-Pacquiao - most significant fight of the year. A mouse knocked out a man. A midget knocked out a giant. It was unbelievable and put Pacquiao soundly around the top 10 greatest of all time. To go from 105lbs and knock out a guy who has spent the last 5 years at 154lbs is ****ing insane.

    2. Vazquez-Marquez III - fight of the year easily and a great end to one of the best trilogies in years. It gave us what Castillo robbed us of by not making weight for Corrales III. Plus the guy I was rooting for won the trilogy.

    3. Hopkins-Pavlik - Hopkins completely exposed Pavlik as the limited, one-dimensional fighter I always said he was. I felt vindicated.

    4. Cotto-Margarito - runner up to fight of the year, showed Cotto was not a great fighter at all since he couldn't beat a guy that lost just LAST YEAR, a guy with a great chin but no ability whatsoever. I hate to say it, but I took a lot of joy in rubbing it in to the Cotto fans that their great fighter was nothing after all. It also got rid of that KING poster.

    5. Pacquiao-Marquez II - Pacquiao finally got the win over Marquez he should have got four years ago but was robbed of. Once again, Marquez proves himself a huge crybaby by saying he got robbed in a super close fight in which he got dropped and rocked badly.

Wow, this year kind of ****** when you think about it. Nowhere near as good as last year.

      Of 2008?

Since i'm only akin to watching HBO fights, most of my favorite fights will be under HBO venues.

I really liked the Cotto/Margarito. That was a really good fight. It almost looked one-sided, then a turn of events occurred. It was action packed, entertaining...all that stuff.

I also like the Bernard Hopkins/Pavlik fight. I know it was a mis-match from day one. But there was two en****** involved. Gauging where Hopkins was at his career, after a loss to the Welchman. And Pavlik determining where he is in the game as a young top fighter. In the end, Hopkins took Pavlik to schooll obviously.

I've heard good things about the Vasquez/Marquez 3...but i've yet to watch it.

Sorry dude but how have you not seen that fight? If you only watch HBO, you're missing the fight of the year pretty much every year nowdays.

          Corrales-Castillo I - greatest fight ever - Showtime
Vazquez-Marquez II - fight of the year 2007 - Showtime
Vazquez-Marquez III - fight of the year 2008 - Showtime

they consistently put on the better matchups in boxing with or without the biggest names. if I could only have one, I'd take Showtime for sure.
