Have you seen a black and white tape of a mitt routine like Mayweathers? No, you haven't, because the sport was not as EVOLUTIONIZED as it is today.
LaMotta's style could still be effective today for sure I think. He was tough as nails and hit hard and kept coming all day. Hell, how many MWs are there now who could beat him? 2? 1? Possibly none?

There were still very technically skilled fighters back in the day. Robinson was technically superb. I would hate to see what he could do to Mayorga's face with those crisp and accurate combinations.

am i the only one who gets annoyed about this "check hook" bull****?

how many people called it a "check hook" before floyd called it that?

i know someone else called it a check hook a long time ago but it's just a hook thrown as a counter punch.

We won't ever know, but that fight would last 10 rounds. I'd bet money on it. It would look like Mosley- Mayorga. The reason why I say that is because Mosley fought like an old school fighter that night. Not really reacting to Mayorga's punches, but setting up offense and defense with his own punches and using footwork. Then you have DLH, who studied Mayorga and put it inside his brain as an impulse to duck inside Mayorga's punches and knock him out. Would Robinson ever do anything like that? I don't think so. Again, that was whhat was available back then. It could go on and on. I feel I've made my point, I know what you mean and I know what I mean. Let sleeping dogs lie. God bless.

I remember Ali talking about check hooks from a video back in the 70s, the term check hook has been around for a long time.

i hate that term. it's just a hook!

ali called the liston ko punch an "anchor punch" too.

                  it was just a cross.
