To me, it was pretty clear that DLH was shot, he even knew it in the post fight interviews, and no, I wouldn't even put it past Mayorga to beat DLH now because DLH always stood his ground, no matter how big his opponent was he stood his ground and fired back, I haven't seen DLH pushed back like he was since Vargas and Vargas is a big guy, DLH would have never gotten pushed back by a guy like Pacquiao even a year ago.

I gave Pacquiao credit, I've always given Pacquiao credit, he's a great fighter, he fought a great fight, but DLH is shot.

I've watched the fight twice since the fight was aired live, I see the same thing I saw then, a guy who couldn't pull the trigger, just as Freddie Roach said, one way of telling if a older fighter is shot or past it is by looking at his legs in a fight, DLH's legs were gone, he was falling over himself while throwing jabs in the latter part of the fight and that wasn't due to Pacquiao, that was just sad and an indicator to me that he was done.

was pretty sad to see a guy who stood his ground against hopkins, mayweather, chavez, vargas, tito (for 9 rounds), ruelas, quartey and mosley get pushed back by a guy like pacman. I know alot of filipinos argue that it was pacman that made him look shot, which to a great degree is true. But if you know de la hoyas comp, you know damn well he has never ever been pushed back like that. Even past his prime, which to me, hes been out of his prime for a while since he started fighting part time. I still cant get it wrapped around my head that he went out like that. I firmly believe roach had to have seen something back when he was training him, and during the steve forbes fight that said something like this would happen, which was why he was talking out the side of his mouth.

      Agreed.

Coming down to welterweight actually enhances my speed. ~ Oscar

Oscar has all the answers for Manny Pacquiao, whatever he tries. ~ Angelo Dundee

He's at the point now where he sees things before they happen. ~ Member of De La Hoya's team, 24/7 series

I felt the same way that Oscar feels now. It's that, people are counting him out, people thinking that he can't pull the trigger. People thinking that he ain't gonna be able to fight three minutes for 12 rounds. Well, he can dictate the fight the way he want it to be. ~ Bernard Hopkins

The timing is perfect, him coming in a couple of weeks before the fight. When Hopkins is telling you "well, just relax and fight your fight, take his heart right from the start" it pumps you up. It pumps you up and makes you more confident. ~ Oscar

Oscar has his chance, come December 6, to prove himself. Yes, Pacquiao is fighting Oscar, but Oscar is fighting to keep that legacy alive and respected. We (we?) now are fighting for pride and dignity. Principle. ~ Bernard Hopkins

This type of fight at this stage of my career, I'm so hungry for the knockout, that's why I'm working as hard as I am. My style and his style? Sooner or later we're gonna clash! Knockout. There will be a knockout! ~ Oscar

I feel in tremendous shape. I mean, I can spar 12 rounds here with no problem. I can run 10 miles with ease. ~ Oscar

I haven't felt this good in a long, long time. ~ Oscar

Yeah, that was really sad, I remember seeing him pushed back to the ropes in round 7 and right then I knew he was shot, that he had no more legs, he stood his ground and fired back against middleweights, yet he wasn't able to stand his ground against a lightweight going up in weight.

I never thought I'd see DLH beat up like that either, I thought he'd know when to call it a day but a lot of people must have been saying the same thing when Leonard or Ali got beat up.

          It's been discussed already:

One: Freddie said Oscar couldn't pull the trigger anymore.

Two: Weight. Freddie said afterwards that Oscar was thinking more about the weight than fighting Manny....and he knew he would. Freddie said Oscar shrunk his stomach which is why he would have trouble eating. And I'm guessing this could be the reason why Oscar couldn't rehydrate to say, 157.
Oscar may have just taken it to far with a mixture of over-training and over-dieting and became a legit 147 pound person. Not a 147 pound fighter, since fighters can weigh-in at 147 and then rehydrate to 157, but a legit, walk around, 147 pound fighter...which means he lost more muscle than he should have.

Is he shot? I don't think he was shot before the fight was signed; he was just past his prime.

154 was a healthy weight for him even though he has was still past his prime. And unlike this fight where he weighed in on fight night at the actual division weight, Oscar blew up past 154 for Floyd.

We will not know if Oscar is completely shot until we see him fight at 154 again and rehydrate like he did with Floyd. But, does anybody want to see him take that risk?
Especially given this fight with killing himself to make weight might have pushed him over the top and actually made him a shot fighter for good; and not just a drained fighter.

Fighters need to learn. Freddie pointed to every fighter that had trouble coming back down and making weight.

This was a Roy Jones jr; Chris Byrd moment for example.

It would have been interesting if this fight had taken place at 154. With Oscar not only making weight comfortably, but rehydrating past 154 like he did Floyd.

Now, how would have Oscar done?
          We will never know.
No way Freddie was willing to take that chance which tells me he knew what he was doing and what he was relying on. He wanted Oscar to be dead by fight-time...just like he mentioned the other fighters were.

This is strange. This word always comes up every time Pacman wins and I don't get it. So I looked up the definition on Merriam Webster's and this is what I found....

            Shot

            Pronunciation: \shät\
            Function: Adjective

            1:
a: of a fabric : having contrasting and changeable color effects : iridescent
b: suffused or streaked with a color (hair shot with gray)
c: infused or permeated with a quality or element (shot through with wit)

            2:
having the form of pellets resembling shot

            3:
a: reduced to a ruined or useless state
            (his nerves are shot)
b: a convenient excuse to deny Manny Pacquiao credit for the shocking manner in which he utterly destroys his opponents in a boxing match (Oscar De la Hoya can be automatically be labeled shot because Manny beat him)

Woaw woaw woaw....wait a minute. Andre Berto looked sharp when he beat Steve Forbes. Berto is only 26 and he's just stepping into the limelight. I'm a Andre Berto supporter. Watch...give him a few more bouts, some top level of experience and i garuntee that he'll be the new boy in boxing.

What about all the Amateur Olympians? Rau'shee Warren? Demitrius Andrade? and that other cat? What's they're pro status?

Warren is staying amateur for 2012, Andrade turned pro and is current 2-0, Shawn Estrada is currently 1-0 as is Deontay Wilder.

Warren is staying Amateur huh? That's aiite. Shawn Estrade looks like he gots iron gloves.

I'm going to follow or keep track with these guys. I think out of all of them Shawn Estrada is the most promising.

                    What's up with Andre Ward?
