    Remember when....

People used to think, just a few short months ago that Oscar De La Hoya would beat these guys.

    Antonio Margarito
    Miguel Cotto
    Ricky Hatton
    Paul Williams
    Joshua Clottey.

Cmon guys, I know you're out there.

There were some of us who would try to tell you otherwise, but did it really take Saturday night for you to see that DLH himself was aware of how talented the division is?

I agree with almost everything you said up until you said "how talented the division is".

When you look at it under a microscope, 147lbs really isn't the jam packed division people would lead you to believe.

Margarito is a good work horse with a great chin. But can easily be outboxed and UD'd by anybody with good movement and a bit of pop.

Williams is too busy playing leapfrog with other divisions to even list him at 147lbs right now.

Cotto is probably the most complete fighter at 147lbs, he doesn't do anything amazingly well, but the things he does he does well enough.

Clottey is an average fighter at best.

Mosley is on his way out the door and a shell of his former self.

      Hatton moved back to 140lbs.

      Floyd is still currently retired.

      Oscar is gone.

      Manny isn't staying at 147lbs.

Then there's the "second stringers" like Quintana and Collazo.

The division is nowhere near as good as it was 10 years ago. I'd pick Oba Carr over some of these dudes.

From top to bottom, name a better division than welterweight when it comes to great fights that have been made or could be made.

It depends on what you mean by great fights that "could" be made at 147lbs. Any Pac fight at 147lbs would be great and technically "could" be made, but most likely won't, as he'll drop to 140 for Ricky.

Personally right now, for best division, my money is on Lightweight. Juan Manuel Marquez, Nate Campbell, Joan Guzman, Juan Diaz, Michael Katsidis, Manny Pacquiao (if he goes back to 135lbs), Marco Antonio Barrera, etc.....

Seriously, the guys at 147lbs right now are all overrated. There's no comparison to the division 10 years ago, prime Shane Mosley would run through them all single handedly, not to mention prime Oscar and prime Tito.

Dude, what does 10 years ago have to do with right now?

Just a few months ago, people were believing that DLH wiped out any guy in the division not named Mosley.

Yeah but you have to consider the intelligence level of the users here. What's the average age of the average boxingscene user? 15? How long have they been watching boxing? Maybe 3 years?

And 10 years ago was my counterpoint to you talking about how much talent is at 147lbs right now. I just don't see it, all of the guys at 147lbs right now are beatable. The guys from 10 years ago all had auras of Roy Jones like invincibility.

The last guy at 147lbs who had that aura was Floyd, and I'm not sure he'd still have it coming back either.

Which welter from 10 years ago went through the division without a loss?

None, but the division was so much more stacked than it is right now.

I'd pick any of them to go through today's division undefeated. Except maybe Tito, I think Williams would give him problems like all hell with his size, reach, and movement.

I'm not saying 147lbs right now sucks, it's just not as good as some people say it is. At least that's my opinion anyway.
