Yes, absolutely. Anyone who would discredit him is pretty much an idiot.

          Great post.

It's incredible that some people are still hating on this guy after a performance like that. We're witnessing a historical legend and some people doesn't even recognize it. It's sad really. Pacquiao immortalized his name with that win on Sat though so no matter.

That was a great point the OP made stating Pacman's transition into a complete machine. The counters, the movements, feints and a wide array of punches complemented with fluidity and technique has transformed Pac into a complete package.

DLH would have faired better against anyone else put in that ring. Manny was a massive underdog in a fight most people here "boycotted" and condemed as a mismatch. Pacquiao literally shocks the world, the stuff legends are made off, and still people can't give where credit is due.

It totally amazes me on how people gave the Pacman very little chance of winning. He absolutely made fools out of many a doubter. Oh well. JAT

Just noticed that Pacquiao fought in 3 different weight divisions this year and won.

                  Here's some perspective:

Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao had 52 fights coming into this fight. He was known primarily as a brawler, a guy with a great punch who broke your will and destroyed you. I felt like JMM figured him out in their two fights together but the Knockdowns kept him from beating Manny. But in terms of boxing skill, JMM always seemed like the smarter fighter, the guy who could adjust his gameplan, stay on the outside and counterpunch.

The most interesting thing about this fight (and Manny's previous fight) was the he changed up his tactics. People don't understand how hard it in ANY sport, let alone a combat sport to change up your physical style. In any sport you have things that come natural. Some guys naturally are dunkers in baskteball, some guys are natural 3 point shooters, some guys are better driving up the lane etc. And when the going gets tough, when there are championship challenges, when your will is tested, it is incredibly hard to not revert to what is physically comfortable to you. In boxing it could be that you are drawn back into a brawl etc.

I have never seen a guy with this many fights who was a brawler, move up this many weight classes in a year, and all while doing it completely change his style up to a boxer/counterpuncher who uses his skill and head to destroy his opponents. The skill level being displayed in this fight vs. what he showed in the JMM fights is a quantum leap in improvement. And he wasn't fighting a scrub. You can say Oscar was shot or whatever, but he was still dangerous and way bigger than many. Manny was not just faster and more athletic, but he had a better gameplan and was the smarter fighter. He feinted to create openings, mixed up his straight leads bringing them in to the face, then the body, then firing them from outside Oscars guard when he saw Oscar adjusting.
His circling was incredible, his angles were smart, and most of all he adapted to anything Oscar tried to do. This is a different fighter after 50+ fights. Can you think of anyone else who has done that?

I think the "haters" and the trolls really need to think about this stuff before they spew their crap.
very good read, haters might wanna re-read the bolded section

                    Nice thread, man.
Spot on, but haters and idiots are deep in denial.
They can't see, or won't see, greatness staring them in the face.
