i hope he doesnt, he should fight dawson in the uk or b hop again. i think b hop earned a rematch by his performance in there first fight and in what he did to pavlik. i got much love for calzaghe but i would love to see him fight one the these men in the uk before he calls it a day :****you:
Calzaghe almost certain to retire

I'll never give Calzaghe the respect. He beat two past their best high-profile fighters in Hopkins, Jones. He barely beat Hopkins. His only credible wins are Lacy, Kessler, Hopkins. A prime Hopkins, Jones beats him.
The only way i'll give him upmost respect is if he beats Dawson, point blank. not saying my outlook is what everybody outlooks is, but its just my opinon.Comment

You laugh at Joe's record and yet ignore the fact that the "reigning" world champ as just come off with a win against a 40 year old dinasaur as well as a "win" against Glenn which everyone knows he lost.
LOL indeed.Comment

Funny I thought it was a close fight.Comment

OH MY GAWD! You Calzaghe fans are so delusional in your attempts to defend his "legacy" you just stray so far away from common boxing knowledge its sad...The first defense is "Oh Dawson has fought old fighters his past 2 fights"..Point is..Dawson is a young hungry Champion who wants the BEST...I dont think JC was fighting opponents of that caliber at Dawsons age willing to travel to the US to fight Jones back then....I can't say i'm a die hard fan of either, im a fan of good match ups..I'm not a fan of fighters claiming to be the hottest thing smoking at Light heavy weight when he has yet to fight a real natural LHW, and retiring when an undefeated Champion is on the prowl in your division! no pun intended but that spells Chicken in my eyes...Take it how u want and run with it but you CAlzaghe fans need to wake up and realize he's not god and CLEARLY doesn't deserve to be in any P4P top 3 discussionComment

Erm... maybe you ought to obtain some 'boxing knowledge' before criticising other people's? This Ameri-centric revisionist boxing 'history' is starting to get on my tit.
Time for some home truths. What actually happened, not only in the case of Calzaghe but also Eubank and Benn shortly before was that the likes of Jones just didn't want to fight THEM. I don't even criticise them for that, particularly as exactly the same would and does happen today when there was/is a high risk of defeat by a foreign fighter and a very low risk of an exceptional payday. Calzaghe wasn't the Ring champ and p4p #2 then. Calzaghe was the WBO champ, the guy who, even a dozen wins later, American boxing fans and pundits still thought Lacy would beat easily. Not on the basis of any reasoned assessment of Calzaghe, but simply the fact they had never heard of him and unthinkingly underestimate all European fighters.
Of course Dawson is willing to travel to the UK to fight Calzaghe.. the Ring LHW champ, p4p #2 and 46-0. It's huge money and huge kudos for a win. But will the 'hungry young champion' fight Froch in Nottingham, or Kessler in Copenhagen if they moved up even if the money matched that on offer in the States? I respectfully suggest, will he hell (and I wouldn't blame him, either) . But until he does, you are talking horse****.
There is one fighter and one only to whom Calzaghe 'owes' anything IMHO, not Dawson and certainly not B-Hop, but Glen Johnson.Last edited by The_Visitation; 12-08-2008, 03:35 PM.Comment
