I hate to dispute anyones list but by next year they should remove the ledgendary Benard Hopkins & Joe Calzaghe because I believe both respected champions will retire. I also got Chad Dawson higher, but the list was a good one. Soon to be on the list will be Andre Berto. I hope JuaMa Lopez can get in their soon also.Comment

Fights I want to happen in 2009
1. Hatton VS Pacquiao for the Lineal Junior Welterweight Title. If Manny wins this will be a 4 Lineal World Champion
2. Juan Marquez VS Nate Campbell for the Linela Lightweight and unification of the belts. Whoever wins should fight Manny. If Manny wins he would be the a 5 lineal world champion
3. Margarito VS Cotto - Whoever wins should fight Manny. If Manny wins again he will be 6 lineal world champion (assuming Margarito wins vs Mosley)
4. Mayweather VS Pacquaio (if PBF ever returns)
5. JuanMa Lopez VS Israel Vasquez or Celestino Caballero or Penalosa
6. Vic Darchinyan VS Fernando Montiel (the winner facing Donaire)
7. Calzaghe VS Dawson or rematch with Hopkins
8. Pavlik VS Abraham
9. Calderon VS Ulises Solis or Edgar Sosa (The 3 should unify)
10. Wladimir Klitschko VS Vitali Klitschko
If all these fights happen 2009 would be explosive for boxing.
You? What fights do you want to happen next year? I hope the promoters have an online system in which the fans can vote on the fights they want to see.
Where is Hatton? Never defeated at jr welterweight and doesn't get a sniff, that's what I call American bias. Kessler, Dawson... what have they done yet? Williams beat Margarito, but it's not like he aint been beat before, and other than that win what has Williams done of any significance? I cant wait until Hatton will beats Pacquiao then the world will wake up!!!! I doubt Hatton would even make the list if it's a split decision in favour of Pacman, that's how ****ed up people's views are on him. We'll see...

calzaghe retires in 09, too. he fights dawson, and dawson retires him.Comment

Call me when he beats Calzaghe or Hopkins, the top 2 in his weight class.
Also, having three light heavyweights is insulting to those who deserve it in lower weight classes like Darchinyan, Montiel, Juan Manuel Lopez, Nate Campbell, Ricky Hatton, or even Arthur Abraham.Comment

No Doubt about it, Pacquiao is the fighter of the decade, in terms of his accomplishments in the ring. Also, he is now undisputed pound for pound fighter in the world. Hopefully Mayweather comes out of retirement to face this guy to settle any doubts.Comment

Where is Ricky Hatton? The guy has lost 1 fight at 147 against the p4p best. He is undefeated at 140 and he gets no respect ... disgusting to be fair. Chad Dawson? Come on now ...Comment

I disagree. Both have better physical tools and better skill sets. Hatton could be on some lists; I just don't see him as one of the ten best fighters in the sport. He looked TERRIBLE against Collazo, average against Urango, and if not for a VERY friendly ref and an untied shoelace, he loses to an ancient Lazcano. He fought his ass off versus Mayweather and did well with Malignaggi but beating Paulie isn't P4P stuff. Just MO. It's not like I think he's bad. I gave him a decent shot against Mayweather because I don't see huge gaps between fighters on lists like these. These are all elite level fighters and, P4P, if they were all the same size, you'd see some wild outcomes.
As to an earlier question, it's hard to tell what happens with a DLH that isn't shot and how that affects. I've had Pac in and out of #1 since the second 2006 Morales fight. If DLH had showed stopped Pac, I probably drop him between B-Hop and JMM. If he lost a decision, and it was wide, probably between Cal and Hop. If he lost a narrow decision, I probably leave him at 1.
None of that happened and we would have to see a different fight to know.Last edited by crold1; 12-08-2008, 08:54 PM.Comment
