If Cotto beats Margarito then Floyd should fight him. I can't blame Floyd for not wanting Margarito and Williams. They are huge welterweights. Neither of them are marketable compared to Pac, Hatton, or even Cotto. Williams is unknown outside of boxing and Margarito doesn't speak english, so he won't even get a 24/7 out of it.Comment

Are you kidding me? Pacquiao and Mayweather really are about the same size. If Margarito wants to really fight a big fight he can fight Paul Williams anytime he wants to. But he doesn't want to. Why? Because he already lost. If he wanted to fight Josh Clottey he could get that unification fight any time he wanted to, but he won't. Why? Maybe because he knows that first fight was a little too close for comfort. The point is, plenty of people want to fight Margarito and Margarito is just obsessing over Mayweather because he knows how much bigger he is than Mayweather.
Pacquiao-Mayweather is a bigger, more interesting fight right now and probably on the basis of all-time rankings. It literally could determine who is remembered as the best fighter of this era.Comment

For the most part I agree. Mayweather-Margarito would be a big fight though, especially if Margarito beats Cotto again.
Let's put it this way, as a Mexican, I can tell you from my experience of how my relatives are. A lot of Mexican boxing fans will root for the Mexican who is on the biggest win streak. So, if Margarito were to beat Mosley and Cotto in the rematch, he'd really become that dude in Mexican boxing circles. Right now I think he might already be getting close, but if he were to win those next two fights it'd be a done deal.
That said, Pacquiao is about the same size as Floyd and in terms of marketability Pacquiao is already there. He's one of the most popular fighters in the US, let alone in Asia and the Pacific Islands. So, not only does Mayweather-Pacquiao mean more in terms of P4P ranking, all-time standing and is a more equitable fight in terms of the physical size of the fighters, it's also a more marketable fight.
And if Margarito wants to **** on dudes coming up in weight then he can go up to fight Paul Williams, Arthur Abraham or Kelly Pavlik and show how macho he is by fighting dudes who actually are his size or slightly bigger.Comment
