The boards will blow up with noobs and ******ity once the fight is over, so I post now....
My final prediction.
Both looked to be in good shape at the weight in. Manny coming in pretty light at 142 and De La Hoya shockingly at 145.. wow.. Can he make 140? Lol. J/K
Anyways.... De La Hoya looks to be in the greatest shape for his age and still looks like he enjoys training for big fights. He is having fun.. I don't see him retiring anytime soon.
Manny Pacqiuao looks to be in good shape, even though he is moving up, which I think won't affect him THAT much... His speed will decrease a bit, but he will still be fast... His power might be dropped, but still enough to shock any fighter with the speed he has behind it.
IMHO.... I think this fight will be a great fight, because both styles will collide and make it very entertaining, but that is WHILE IT LASTS!
De La Hoya has a tremendous left hook, and a pretty nice jab to pump it with the left hook. IMO... that will be his signature punch for this fight. Jab, left hook. Oscar will throw a couple of right hands, but he will see how Roach taught him to slip that punch, so it will change De La Hoya's gameplan.
For Manny to win.... He can take it this way IMO. He can apply a lot of pressure early and hope to make DLH think twice.... Manny must land a big shot early to keep the fight at his pace.. So he can gain respect from De La Hoya. Doing so he won't outbox De La Hoya, but keep the fight at a comfortable pace and HOPEFULLY cruise to a SD win. How will DLH stamina issue be in this fight? We don't know yet, but If Manny comes forward throwing combination's... It could probably be good for him to land a flash Knockdown punch, and be ahead on the cards... Manny needs to watch out for the jab and the left hook. Both fighters are durable, and just because Manny is moving up doesn't mean he is prone to get KO'ed automatically. If he plays his cards right, he can possible land a temple shot, equilibrium shot and possibly land one right on the chin. Same for DLH. NEVER COUNT ANYONE OUT!
Manny doesn't look that short, so this is where De La Hoya might have problems. Tonight we will see if Manny is one dimensional, because if DLH knows that he is in trouble, HE WILL change his gameplan, and how will Manny react? Will he capitalize or stay doing the same? Manny has a great and fast left hand that he lunges in with, and THIS can possibly be his key to a flash Knockdown. Roach knows (or says so) that he knows DLH flaws, which will be his stamina. So I know for a fact that Manny will attack the body. Right hooks to the body along with the uppercut going upstairs. This fight will be something like JMM vs Manny Pacman.. Call me crazy, but you will see why.
Manny will not get KO'ed IMO. I just see it like that.. I think that Mannys left hand will catch De La Hoya the same way it caught Marquez to shock De La Hoya.
My prediction, and YES im going for the underdog... Will be Manny Pacman by SD. There will be controversy after this fight, only making a second fight possible.
I think De La Hoya will get tired around the 8th round and Manny will take it from there.. If Manny can make it to the late rounds with De La Hoya, and have him tired in there and keep on throwing combination, then he will win this fight.
If De La Hoya connects early, then he will rid of Manny Pacman by the 6-7th rounds, by stoppage.. Not by KO. De La Hoya needs a KO, so in his mind he will come forward and so will Manny.. Leaving both fighters prone to getting hurt, but Manny will have to change his gameplan if he wants to win this fight on his feet.
