Thanks Ice.
I'll take the liberty to post your prediction here:
John 'Ice' Scully, former 168-pound, 175-pound contender who twice challenged for title: I will have to go with Oscar in what I think could very well be a tougher than expected fight for him. I do think, though, that he has something to prove and Manny is tenacious enough and in good enough shape that I think he can force Oscar to bring a lot out of himself. I expect Oscar De La Hoya to come out pumping his jab and boxing smart but also engaging the smaller guy at times, too, and after some rocky moments I think he will bite down and pull ahead and win the fight. Probably by a late stoppage -
Man, that Manny put on a MASTERPIECE tonight...someone just said to me how, "Oscar's speed just wasnt there tonight." and I said that his speed is there, it would have been there but Manny didnt give him anything to hit...the guy fought one of the most disciplined fights ever tonight...Oscar is at the end, not just physically or whatever...the tell tale for me was him not putting up ANY resistance to the conversation about him getting stopped...in his prime he would have jumped out of his seat to protest even the thought of someone stopping the fight... but just like Ali against Holmes, that part of his game and mentality wasn't there and THAT as much as anything is when it is time to retire...tonight was Ali-Holmes, Jones-Calzaghe, Louis-Marciano. Chavez-Tzuy, all over again...it's a cycle that will likely never end...Last edited by ICEMAN JOHN SCULLY; 12-07-2008, 01:41 AM.Comment
