He knew days before the fight that Pac-Man was not even close to 147lbs. like has been stated and to make the fight more appealing to pay-per-view buyers he knew he had to shed an extra couple of pounds to make the fighters look closer in size. Also notice in the face off Oscar decided not to put on his shoes where as Manny did to make them appear closer in size during the face off.

Face Margarito? why not face Hopkins? oh wait he already did that huh? Oscar a former 130lb champion fought Bernard, who started his career at 175, did he have your respect then? Hagler fought Duran, Jones fought Tito, Ruiz fought Jones, Tarver fought Hopkins, the list goes on and on of guys who fought smaller guys. Oscar and Manny are both former 130 and 135lb champions, so why not put on the biggest fight of the year and fight eachother if they can meet at a reasonable weight?
