I think Oscar has many disadvantages going into this fight; it's not like this is the Prime version of Oscar...he also has to make 147.
DLH is only moving down 1 weight division, pac is moving up 2

I just want to see a good fight.
its not going to be a good fight, but it will be a good spectacle

How come there wasn't a big stink when Roy moved up to HW?
    - because Ruiz was the weakest of the HWs champs
    - because RJJ has been fighting at lt HW for a decade... pac just moved to 135

Or the Giants fighting Chris Byrd?
    - the HW division was garbage except for LL
    - Chris Byrd is a very good defensive boxer and his only disadvantage at HW was his punching power

The hate for Delahoya is not surprising here.

there is no outcome that will make Oscar look good in this fight
Their not fighting for logic, but for money. People dont care how things look these days, if it makes money its a go. No matter how outlandish something sounds or looks, to them that just means they have to put forth more effort into deceiving the public into making it look legit.

Moving down can hurt you...especially at Oscar's stage of his career. When was the last time he had to make 147?

Oscar is not prime...at least Ruiz was. Ruiz was still good enough to win a title and was much bigger than Roy; like 30 pounds bigger.

You also have Sam Langford fighting HWs...Barbados Joe Walcott at 5'1 1/2fighting much bigger fighters; Ray Robinson moving up in weight, Joe Choynski fighting the likes of Jeffries and Johnson....Duran moving up...and many more.

So I get no points with Byrd because he was a very good defensive boxer?
He fought in the amatuers at like Middleweight and was constantly outsized against huge opponents. He wasn't a natural HW; he had to lift weights and eat eat eat to be a HW.

If I get no credit for Byrd, Pac can't get any credit for fighting a 35 year old, past prime fighter that hasn't made 147 in a long time.

There should have been rage against the Klits for fighting this tiny little man with no power.

Dempsey fought bigger fighters; so did Louis; and so did Tyson.

          It's a fight.

doesn't matter its only 1 division down... its not like RJJ coming down from HW to lt. HW

Yeah but Ruiz is garbage and DLH is probably still top 5 jr. middleweight

You also have Sam Langford fighting HWs...Barbados Joe Walcott at 5'1 1/2fighting much bigger fighters; Ray Robinson moving up in weight, Joe Choynski fighting the likes of Jeffries and Johnson....Duran moving up...and many more.
yeah, that's all well and good, but pac's gonna be in the ring with dlh not those guys

yeah, also the size disparity is much more pronounced in the lighter weight classes. its much more difficult for small fighters to move up than big fighters.

If I get no credit for Byrd, Pac can't get any credit for fighting a 35 year old, past prime fighter that hasn't made 147 in a long time.
you don't have to worry about that cause pac's not gonna win

There should have been rage against the Klits for fighting this tiny little man with no power.
            there still is

Dempsey fought bigger fighters; so did Louis; and so did Tyson.
yeah, but those guys were already big though

True, it's not that drastic, but the last time he fought at 147 was 7 years ago. It becomes harder to make weight when you get older.

You are the one that says each weight is a big difference; well, 7 pounds to lose is a lot then when you haven't made it in 7 years.

Yeah but Ruiz is garbage and DLH is probably still top 5 jr. middleweight
Calling Ruiz garbage is wrong. He was good enough to win a title so he was at least decent. Roy was still giving up 30 or so pounds and a few inches in height. Ruiz was beating HWs; with Roy, it was his first fight at HW.

yeah, that's all well and good, but pac's gonna be in the ring with dlh not those guys
OK...so note to self; Pac isn't a Great Fighter like those guys. He can't overcome the bigger fighters. Those guys are above him on the ATG list...which is probably true anyway.

yeah, also the size disparity is much more pronounced in the lighter weight classes. its much more difficult for small fighters to move up than big fighters.
Which is why the HW Champ is the Man. No excuses for weight and height disparity.

yeah, but those guys were already big though
Tyson was 5'11, 220 and faced guys over 6'2+, 230+

Even when he was Shot, people wanted him to face 6'5, 245 pound Champ Lennox Lewis.

Chris Byrd was in the low 200's; was a middleweight in the amatuers I think; and still had a decent career at HW...and fought the Monsters in the division.

Dempsey was about 6'1 and weighed under 200 pounds. Louis was about 6'1 1/2 and around 200 pounds. Ali was actually below 200 pounds when he started...and I think was a Light-Heavyweight when he won Gold.

Joe Choynski knocked out Jack Johnson and had a draw with Jim Jeffries.

I think Barbados Joe Walcott beat Choynski...as well as many other bigger guys.

Duran was able to move up from lightweight and won some good fights.

              Sam Langford beat HWs.

              nah... its a spectacle
              It's a fight.

Chris Byrd didn' complain; Fedor doesn't complain....just to mix in MMA

              Oscar fought Bernard Hopkins.
