Article: DLH-Pacquiao PPV Buys Outpacing DLH-Mayweather

Those who track such arcane segments of the business are reporting that preliminary sales of the pay-per-view broadcast of Saturday night’s Oscar De La Hoya-Manny Pacquiao fight have been encouraging.

The figures are so strong, in fact, they’re outpacing the numbers put up by De La Hoya’s bout against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in May 2007.

That’s more than a little surprising considering De La Hoya-Mayweather generated a record 2.4 million pay-per-view “buys,” in the argot of the field, and that this week’s fight is taking place amid a severe worldwide economic slump.

I don't think it will get close to beating DLH-Mayweather but at least 1.5 mil is looking more and more likely.

Me too, plus Money vs DLH had 5 de mayo festival to support it with more sales.

the ecomomy won't allow this fight to do more. Also, because the last DLH PPV was deemed "boring" by casual fans regardless of who's fault it was, it could suffer because of that.

        we'll see.

        i doubt it beat floyd-oscar.

but...... getting a couple of friends to pitch in for the ppv and beer and food is cheaper than going to a club and buying several $8 dollar drinks.

I can see this PPV doing real big numbers, hard to top Delahoya vs Maweather especially with this economy. I'll be buying and hopefully I can get that full throttle rebate.
