AMERICAN BJ Flores has thrown his name into the ring to face Enzo Maccarinelli for the WBO cruiserweight title — but wants three weeks to prepare.
Maccarinelli was due to face undefeated Johnathon Banks as the Excel Arena's headline fight on Saturday, but an ankle injury saw the American forced to withdraw.
Former heavweight champion Herbie Hide is known to be on the shortlist to face Maccarinelli, but Flores's comments could derail those plans.
However, with Flores wanting three weeks – rather than three days – to prepare for this fight, it would mean Sports Network moving their main attraction to Christmas.
How keen they are at a possible move is yet unknown, though a potential fight against Flores has always been on the backburner since Maccarinelli's defeat to David Haye in March.
, who beat Darnell "Ding-A-Ling Man" Wilson on points in February, sparred with Haye before the triple title fight at the O2 Arena and is undefeated in his 21 fights.
And he confirmed he is interested in locking horns with Maccarinelli.
"The WBO is a serious orginisation. Give me three weeks to prepare and I will bring back that belt to America," he said.
