Should Cotto still be #8 P4P?

He is currently #8 having gone 1-1 this year only defeating Alfonso Gomez and being stopped by Margarito. When fighters like Joshua Clottey, Vic Darchinyan, Paul Williams, Nonito Donaire, Chad Dawson, and Ricky Hatton all had better years then him. But are still behind him when he is @ 8. Pavlik and Taylor both 1-1 this year were not stopped.

I still think he is a top fighter despite his loss. When you talk about the best fighters today, you have to mention Miguel Cotto.

No doubt of course I just think there are some people right now he should not be higher than currently.

I think so. He's one of the best fighters in the world. It's not like his loss was one sided.

Only Paul Williams might be ahead of him, but I'm not certain yet at this point.

check the amount of losses everyone in the poll has, and compare their performances in 2008

Legitimate topic. I think he was ranked too highly previously, and tend to think the WW division guys are ranked slightly too highly p4p overall. I know it's a top division but christ, like half of the guys in the top 10 almost, are WW's. There's 12 frigging divisions.

Cotto was too high before. It looked odd the extent at which he dropped down at the time. But looking back it was right, and because he was too high to begin with. With other guys having good wins since that loss of Cotto's, I wouldn't complain if he'd have dropped another place. And I like the guy, one of my fav's at WW. He just doesn't seem to have lost out as much at WW as other guys in other weight classes have, both in ranking in WW and p4p. In 08 the guy only beat Gomez (whom I also love lol) and then got stopped.

I'm really undecided on where Cotto should sit p4p. He has had a very impressive few years so he has built up a lot of credit however you are right he has had a fairly average year whilst others such as Dawson and Williams in particular have had very good ones. I dunno, if he belongs in the top 10 it is right on the fringe I think. He is still a world class fighter though no doubt.
