    how good is pavlik?

    he shocked me in the 1st taylor fight
    but shocked me even more against hopkins
    what exactly happened in that fight?
    i know hopkins is hard to figure out but that was a clinic
    what pisses me off even more is when he says;
    "nothing is gonna change, i'm gonna put pressure and throw a lot of punches"
    he doesn't change his style and that's a big flaw
    a great champion has to adapt and react in a different manner when the tough gets going
    einstein once said;
    "a crazy person is someone who does the same thing over and over but expects different results"
    this is what pavlik did against hopkins, fought the same, threw nothing and expected to land tilting 1-2

    oh and pavlik can't counter for ****, he can't fight moving backwards..
    he never tried to time hopkins and barely feinted @ any occasions

    if pavlik wants to be great, he has to CHANGE
    churchill once said;
    "to improve is to change, and to perfect is to change often"
    pavlik must realize that not every fighter will stand in front of him, not every fighter will back off in the ropes and wait for you to unload your crap

    in the post fight interview, pavlik was like;
    "i dunno i guess i have to work on fighters who have lateral movement"
    didn't this guy watch hopkins-tarver?

    i think pavlik needs manny s. as a trainer, i hate the trainer he has, he's nothing but moral support in the ring
    "let's go kelly, u gotta do something, can't let this happen"
    somebody needs to tell his trainer to do his ****ing job and to tell kelly what he's doing wrong and how to aproach hopkins or whoever he's fighting
    it's ridiculous..

    i feel pavlik, who i like very much, will be just a wasted talent because of his surroundings...

          i'm talking about the fight itself, not his resume
          by the 6th, 7th, round pavlik should've done something different
          calzaghe did it against kessler, calzaghe did it against hopkins
          he changed his style in mid-way of the fight
          pavlik was not able to do that, partly because of his trainer, and partly because he's just not good enough

            Pavlik's got skills

            too bad his trainers game plan for every situation is to double up on the jab and throw a cross

              Providing he doesn't let the Hopkins defeat play on his mind too much (altho he was well beaten), he'll be fine.

              He'll never be a legend of boxing, but he could get into the Hall, if he's managed properly.

                Einstein's the man. I was watching a documentary on his Theory of Relativity a while back - the guy was ridiculously intelligent.

                  He's much too simple; he needs a new trainer to work on adding more to his arsenal. He cant continue to rely on the same style and 1-2 punch for every opponent. You're right, he needs to learn to adapt but he cant adapt if he doesn't have any other tricks up his sleeve. He only knows one way of fighting and until he gets a new trainer, he will always loose to smart/cagy/veteran fighters.

                    I like Pavlik. I like his power style. He's still young, but i'm sure the more experience he gets the more he'll do well.

                    i don't think it's the fighter that has to make all these adjustment. Boxing is a team sport. His corner has to reconstruct his arsenal and devise strategies. Boxing is a thinking man's game.

                    Pavlik was just too overmatched against Hopkins. Shees!! Hopkins fcukin took him to school like FO REAL FO REAL. 26 vs. 43. I think Pavlik has a big heart and he'll learn from it. Learning from losing is a admirable virtue of a champion.

                    After watching that fight, i actually gave Hopkins hella hella hella credit for performing like that.

                    I think Pavlik is good. With the right training and enough experience, he might turn into great.
