I agree Arreola might not be ready for Klitschko, but I do see Travis Walker as a legit opponent, moreso than Thompson who Wlad fought last. Have you seen that "stoppage loss" Walker suffered? Highly controversial, Wilson basically came at him guns blazin, Walker dropped his hands and the fight was over. Walker immediately protested and fyi won the rematch so he was virtually undefeated.

Thing is, a fighter like Arreola is good for boxing, he brings exciting fights and hyping this guy up isn't all that bad. Once Arreola gets mainstream attention people will see boxing the way they want it to be: Exciting!

Unlike Williams Arreola isnt' talking like he is feared just because Tua refused to fight him. Acknowlege.
byrd beat a lot of people , feroz.

tua lost to lewis , byrd and a disputed one to ike ibeabuchi. doesn't take anything away from him. lewis is an atg and though byrd and ike might not be greats...they had great skills.

i don't care about arreola. i like him and i hope he does well but i just don't like people talking about tua ducking him like he was scared. tua is washed up. the guy is just trying to get paid. he wanted more than arreola was offering , that's the end of that.

        !
One thing I can assure you of is that Tony Thompson would box Arreola's ears off and win every round in a unanimous decision.

Thompson is not flashy and he has never gotten the credit he deserves, he is so much better than Arreola it is almost not worth discussing.

Thompson gave Wlad a tough fight and neutralized Klitshcko's jab like no other opponent ever has. Arreola gets in their with Wlad he will be leaving for the hospital within 3 rounds.

Tua is washed up and should be irrelevant. Or maybe he should fight a few more Cerrone Fox types on undercards at Michigan Indian Casinos to get my respect?

Far as I can tell David Tua has spent about a decade outside of the top 10 as of right now.
washed up bum is a bum who's washed up.

a fighter who was good once and isn't anymore is just plain washed up.

as far as fighting in indian casinos.....how do you know if arreola offered any more than that?

tua is no longer a contender and probably will never ever be close to becoming one again.

if a prospect wants to make a name by beating him......that's fine but don't expect tua to do it for free.

at this stage of a fighter's career they're not fighting to get to the top......they're fighting to make money fighting the guys trying to get to the top.

I don't get it. So it is respectable for Tua to turn down every single fight offer for a year straight because he is something special? Not in my book. If you havent done anything in 10 years then it's time you actually fight to earn your money.

David Tua and his career choices the past 4 years, plus the fact that people still talk about this walking joke, is a good example of what is wrong with boxing. Anytime talking about Tua would be better spent talking about up and comers who actually want to fight, not just sit around on their fat ass hoping for a million dollars to fall in their lap.

I am willing to bet Tua fought Cerrone Fox for no more than 30,000-40,000 dollars. i am also willing to bet that a fight with Arreola would have earned him 150-250,000. 5 times as much as he was making for his past few fights. Maybe he could have gotten up to 500K fighting on HBO....

If you think David Tua deserves more than 250,000 for any fight right now you are out of touch with reality.

why the hell do you care so much?

you're talking about him more than any tua fan on this thread.

the threadstarter doesn't like tua and makes fun of him.

the only reason he brought up tua's name is to piss off arreola fans and to insult them. don't you get it?

don't be a moron. let tua do what he wants. as you say it doesn't really matter in the big picture of things at heavyweight anyway.

if he wants to take $50,000 fighting at indian gaming casinos let him.

he's no longer top ranked nor will he ever be. it's mostly people who are trying to come up that bring out his name 'cause he'd be a good win for an upcoming prospect.

Tua can be very overrated but its likely he beats Arreola due to styles.

arreola simply DOES not have the chin to support the style he displayed on saturday night. PERIOD.

if walker can knock him down that early, do you honestly think a more skilled heavyweight such as klitschkos, haye, peter, etc... cant do the same? also they are all MUCH harder hitters than walker.

look arreola gets credit for getting up and showing heart, but right now this guy hasnt shown anything that says he can beat a klitschko. people who dislike the fact wlad is at the top want to cling to his questionable chin, but the fact is there is a reason no one has connected with him solid in the past several years, and thats because he has taken his defensive skills to an entirely different level. he has become a BETTER fighter over the past few years, learned from his mistakes. its not like arreola can walk in with some wild ass fist slinging style and easily put wlad out. maybe the wlad from pre sanders would have gotten knocked out by arreola, but not now. wlad is a master at neutralizing fighters, also look at alot of his competition hes faced most of them have had solid chins, great defense, or a combination of both, and hes still put almost all of them out. arreolas chin WILL NOT stand up to several straight rights from either klitschko, or david haye for that matter. if arreola wants any sort of shot he needs to get in shape and get a defense to go with that offense. if you think arreolas defense is solid enough right now to do anything, you are either blinded by klitschko hate, are a fanboy, or are just a dumbass.

arreola has potential to take it to the next level, but showing up out of shape with no defensive skills what so ever will not make this guy a heavyweight champ. if he had the chin of brewster, foreman, sanders, vitali, etc... maybe this dude would be able to win me over a bit more, but he wasnt able to take the kind of punishment his style suggests.

Is that not enough of a reason to be sick and tired of a fighter?

There are 25 threads the past 3 months about possible Tua fights and he has not fought in a years time. Im sick and tired of hearing his name and he does not deserve any attention anymore.
