Pwill is just staying busy. He hasn't fought any tomato cans, just the best fight that he can get. He is the mandatory for the WBO 154 belt. Don't know if the "Super" champ is a money maker over in his country. If so, then that fight would be a good one to pursue. But I wouldn't be to keen on going overseas to fight.

im all for pwill going from 147 to 160, as long as he can do it. this is what boxing needs, someone willing to lose to find out who the best is. i get sick of fights were you know who is gonna win as soon as the contract is sighned, at least when youre moving into different weight classes there will always be questions about how so and so will do at the higher/lighter weight. good for pwill, hopefully he sets a trend

I think P.Will should stick to one weight class (154lbs) and clean it out instead of jumping in between. He needs to establish himself as a draw and he won't do that if all he's doing is jumping from class to class without getting a big fight.

hard to clean out a particular division when the other champions don't want to fight you..............
but PW is doing the right thing, and all he has to do is keep winning. he has a crowd pleasing style, so as the W's pile up, sooner or later the big names will be forced to reckon w/ him.

well Williams didn't even go up to the full 160 in his stay busy fight at Middleweight.
it will come back to haunt him if say P-Will fights at Middleweight .. then goes back down to 147 3 months later
but with seemingly all the big names at 147 having, or targeting other fights (Berto, Cotto, Mosley+Margarito for example)
I would think Williams would focus more on the Super Welter and Middleweight divisions at the moment
and that 6 pounds (between Super Welter and Middle) shouldn't kill Paul's body too much ... because outside of the ring Williams is probably weighing much closer to Middleweight anyway.
which would be easier to make .. then going all the way down to 147.

“Now Margarito has agreed to fight Shane Mosley for close to two million dollars, less than the offer to challenge Williams,” said Dan Goossen. “For the betterment of our sport, the fans, the networks and especially the fighters, our sport needs to have the best fighting the best.”
Dated August 05, 2008 a response from Top Rank to Goossen Tutor Boxing stated:
“after the terrible experience I was subjected to by Paul Williams, his camp, and advisor in connection with a Pavlik fight, I have absolutely no intention whatsoever to be involved in any fight with Mr. Williams. Accordingly your proposal is in all respect rejected and I would request that you do not contact me again regarding Mr. Williams.” Signed by Bob Arum.
“The question remains,” stated Goossen “do you believe Bob did the right thing to turn down our four million dollar offer and now leaving millions on the table to fight an opponent ten years older than Williams and not considered to be in his prime?”
Now whats gonna be the story with the nuthuggers now? Wasnt Margarito's manager saying an official offer wasnt made to Arum? That it was an internet offer? And why would Arum send an official response basically saying dont contact him anymore about PW if the offer wasnt legit? And WHY is Margarito fighting a fighter past his prime, 10 years older then Williams, who a couple of weeks ago his nithuggers was saying he gained nothing from fighting instead of the last guy to beat him?Last edited by BoxingScribe; 12-01-2008, 10:08 PM.
