Mosley-Margarito might be "free HBO", DLH-Pac will do ****ty numbers. If the PPV era ends, will a lot of money leave the sport, therefore kill the sport or make it better? Discuss.
Is the downfall of PPV good or bad for Boxing?

Is the downfall of PPV good or bad for Boxing?

PPV should be relegated strictly to "superfights", with great cards. Not Marquez Casamayor type fights with garbage underneath.Comment

For anyone that understands modern economics knows that if the current trend of PPV numbers continue, it will kill the sport. Therefore, it's a bad thing.Comment

That was the epitome of garbage. It was so bad, that HBO didn't even produce it
Well if these fight become on "free" tv, will that be a good thing?Comment

IMO its good thing.
PPV rose in the early 90's and started to peak at the end of the 90's and early 00's where they kept increasing the amount they charged for a fights that weren't really worth PPV status, why? Because people had the money, or could get access to the money to pay it.
Now people are being more strict with what they spend and how much they spend. I really hope the next Oscar fight fails to get big numbers, its two major names fighting yes, but in completely different weight class's. Duno how much there charging in the states, but i ain't gonna be paying #15 to watch it!
PPV now will hopefully go back the mega fights which warranted the expense as it was an 'event' not just one fight. Boxers still need to get paid, so will be back fighting on domestic TV for pay days, and will be fighting to earnt that PPV status and a big pay day that the PPV channels can sell to us, so hopefully will be doing more to impress, taking more risks and ultimately more entertaining boxingComment

Oscar de la hoya is clearly on here since he thinks ppvs are good for boxing... Yeah right, and the nfl network is good for football.
all.
They're not getting my 5 bucks for the nfl network, and any intelligent person wouldn't put money into those crooks pockets.Comment
