    Was Young underrated?

Considering who he fought and the era he fought in was Jimmy Young underrated as a hw?

Beat Foreman and Lyle handily (Lyle twice in fact), and was unlucky not to get the nod against Ali, Norton and Shavers. That's five stellar names from the golden era of heavies and Young arguably beat them all. I'd say he's underrated.

I agree except with the Ali fight simply because of its importance. I think if it was a non-title fight Young wins, but given the magnitude of the event you can't win the hw championship by sticking your body through the ropes all night.

Young was a very good fighter, gave all the top heavyweights trouble and best some of them, didn't like the way he kept leaning his head outside of the ropes against Ali though.
