Straight Right or Left Hook? (which is the better power punch)

Now I know it depends on the fighter, but on average, you'd think a straight right hand from a right handed fighter would be his most powerful weapon.....but god damn...

When you whip that left hook in a proper curve, kick your heel out and turn your body into it. You can generate so much centrifugal force it feels like you're swinging a hammer.

So which is the better finishing blow?

The left hook usually causes more one-punch KOs, because it comes at angle that's harder to see coming.

As the saying goes, "the punch you don't see coming is the one that hurts you the most"

Depends who is throwing the punch. But I think Hearns right hand could have cracked a planet. Just goes to show how much of a badass Hagler was....

Well it depends on the fighter!

But generally I would say left hook. Fast guys can lead with it, shorten it up, less dangerous than the overhand right.

It's a perfect punch to counter with too, because again, you can throw it with a variety of distances and power/speed (if you are good). Very generally you can generate more power in a proper hook, too, because you can turn your weight more affectively.

Having said all that, the right is more about timing, and can be devastating when properly used in this fasion, bringing someone onto the punch.

A Khan straight hand could knock down a cruiserweight if landed correctly.

Ivan Calderon could get another KO, if he landed on Khan. Correctly....

He would need a step ladder.
