But on Tuesday, Goossen provided to Yahoo! Sports a copy of a July 31 letter he sent to Top Rank chairman Bob Arum in which he offered Margarito "a minimum guaranteed (sic) of $4 million against 50 percent of net revenues to Top Rank/Margarito."

Arum responded in a letter on Aug. 5 rejecting the offer.

Arum wrote: "Thank you for your letter of July 31, 2008 regarding Paul Williams.

"After the terrible experience I was subjected to by Paul Williams, his camp and advisor in connection with a (Kelly) Pavlik fight, I have absolutely no intention whatsoever to be involved in any fight with Mr. Williams.

"Accordingly, your proposal is in all respects rejected and I would request that you do no contact me again regarding Mr. Williams."

For the right amount of money, I believe anyone fights anyone especially at this level.

I think the deal got *****ed, and people like to throw out figures without actual proof.
I bet Sturm and Abraham do fight, if the money is right. But it's gonna be hard to let Universum and Sauerland negotiate with their prized pupils.

What I don't (or do) find funny is that so many people are quick to call bull**** on Strum's promoter saying that the offer is bull****, but when Arum says the 4 million is fake, people believe him.

Bob Arum is the person who once said "I was lying yesterday, but I'm telling the truth now". He's a hypocrite.

I don't think Margarito is necessarily ducking Paul Williams, but I think Bob Arum is. He told Margarito's manager that the offer was fake and Margarito's manager bought it. He knows that he can't risk a Margarito-Cotto rematch because even though Margarito be making as much, the income and promoter fee Arum would be making would probably be a lot more then a Williams-Margarito 2 fight.

I find it ****ing silly that people say others such as Pavlik, Clottey, and Shane are ducking Williams. You could make a case for Shane I guess, but Shane is an idiot when calling out fighters. He always wants the top dog, but never responds to them until after the bout's luster has been downgraded.

This is where it's at. Add to this that Arum said after the first fight they wouldn't do business with Goosen again.
There was a huge story on how they felt they got railroaded on the purse.

These guys would go at it, but to some people, they think it's ducking or calling out that gets things done, when there is a whole nother level beyond the scenes that make these things work.
They should've known that from what Mayweather did/ or didn't do to make his money.

If it was just the fighters, they woulda done fought already.
Williams isn't in the bargaining position that Margarito is, and that's a fact.
