    Great Iran Barkley Memory/quote...

Funny Barkley moment...after stopping Robert Folley on HBO back in 1992, Larry Merchant asks him on air what he'll be doing after boxing and he says with a staight face, "Robbing your house." LOL

I was at that show, a great card in Atlantic City that had Barkley-Folley, Toney-DeWitt and Roy Jones against Percy Harris

Maybe he should rob Merchant's house now.

Man, I hope Barkley is ok. There were stories before about his poverty.
I hope the Blade threw a monster hook at it and is working and living well.

        LONG LIVE THE BLADE

One quote of his that I remember was after the string of losses that Barkley had at the end of his career, an interviewer told him that his fans wanted to see him retire and asked him whether he would do it, Barkley answered that he would retire "when they pay my bills".

From the last I've heard, Barkley still lives in the projects in the South Bronx that he grew up in.

Iran still gets around, though, I have seen him NUMEROUS times at fights in Vegas, CT, NY and NJ over the last few years...

Iran Barkley was such a cool character. if I wasnt a child when he was fighting, he would definately have been my favorite fighter.

anyone remember the end of the 3rd(?) round in Barkley vs. Toney? Toney raises his hands in front of Barkleys face and Barkley just laughs and gives him an upward nod in the middle of such an intense battle. haha. the guy was always laughing in the middle of brawls, it was great. what a tough guy he was, and he could punch like hell. underrated skill wise too, he had a great counter left hook.

I even made him a highlight, because I think a fighter like him deserves one after how hard he fought. although I doubt he would care, haha.

people seem to forget that hes actually a 3 weight class world champ, although I dont think he was ever the #1 fighter in his division. actually, maybe he was after he beat Hearns the 2nd time, because I think Hearns was coming off his win over Virgil Hill...eh, I dunno.
