Promoter and close friend of Lennox Lewis, Frank Maloney, has blasted Emanuel Steward, longtime trainer Lewis, for suggesting that the former champion come out of retirement to take a big money rematch against current WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko. Lewis has been retired since 2003. During a recent conversation with the The Telegraph, Steward felt that Lewis should return to settle some unfinished business with Klitschko. Lewis stopped Klitschko in six-rounds when the ringside doctor said the cuts on Klitschko's face were to severe to allow the action to continue. Klitschko was ahead on points at the time of the stoppage. [details]

He said on an HBO card in 2003 that he "probably" wouldn't fight again and said in several interviews he didn't have the desire to fight again. He "officially" announced his retirement in Feb 2004. Kostya Tszyu and Naseem Hamed never officially announced their retirements and everyone considers them retired since their last fights.
You are taking Maloney's comments out of line. He said Lewis was delusional for thinking he can save the sport by returing. He said it will take more than one man to do it. You forget that he called Lewis an all-time great. Something that cannot be said about either of your beloved Klitschkos.

Maloney is right. Emanuel Steward is an idiot for trying to persuade Lennox to come out of retirement.
Steward saying this is putting a question of doubt over Lewis' career, as if he still needs to prove something. Lewis has nothing to prove. He had a fantastic career at the top, fought the best out there (beat the current no.1 Vitali) & got out a good time with his health fine & his status secured.
Stay retired Lennox. Pointless coming back to this joke of a heavyweight disivion anyway.Comment

Thinks it a bit selfish what Manny is trying to do here.Trying to lure Lewis out of retirement after he been out for 5 years and is 43 years of age against the number 2 argulbey the number 1 heavyweight Vitali Klitscko.And its a hight possiblity Lewis could lose this fight, and Lewis worked hard for the legacy he established and losing this fight could damper that legacy something Lewis wants to keep in tact.Comment
