If they can get this fight done, it'd be way better than an immediate rematch with Darchinyan. He lacked the in-fight adaptability an A level boxer is supposed to possess. There are a few sutile things he could have done to beat Vic, but he never tried to do anything different. Mijares will beat Hasegawa though.

I really like Mijares, I don't even understand how he lost to Darchinyan. Anyway props to him for wanting that rematch, I hope he redeem himself from that lost.

Whoa! The headline just left me agape for a while. I heard from my friend that Mijares is moving up in weight to land a titile shot at Moreno in Feb - Apr 2009. But it looks like his handler is willing to make Hasegawa - Mijares happen. Quite interesting. This is a much better matchmaking than Mijares fighting Moreno.

This bout would be pretty unpredictable. Hasegawa openly admits that southpaw fighters are a bummer to him. On the other hand, Mijares fell easy victim to Darchinyan, which also leads you to the idea that he himself is no good at southpaws. I presonally don't believe that Hasegawa will accept this offer to fight a Mexican on Mexican soil. If this takes place somewhere in USA, the deal will be a reality though. Damn, I like both fighters and how they fight. Just can't tell whom I should root for.

Be that as it may, please keep us informed and updated about this. boxingscene.com is the best source for me.

I have no idea who Hasegawa is. and I think I'll be the only one to admit it. but props to Mijares(who I thought would win) for getting right back in the mix

I've seen a lot of Hasegawa. He's been the best Bantam in the world since Marquez moved up and is a very good fighter. Not a lot of pop, but solid speed and activity. MIjares gets mad props for going after the top dog at 18 right out if he does it.

Two words: hell...yes Unfortunately this fight isn't occurring in Tokyo, otherwise I'd be there. All credit to Hasegawa for taking a big fight across the Pacific though.
