Where is your proof that Antonio Margarito, a man who was willing to take nothing against Floyd Mayweather, is demanding a crazy split? Because if it's not something you've read, why do you keep repeating it? That's like me making up something like "Paul Williams can't keep asking for crazy purse splits" just to deflect facts. 1.) He almost bitched out of Mosley fight (had the berto deal went thru)
2.) 2 million is not the least amount of money (now HBO succumbed to Princess Antonita)
3.) The amount of fights does not matter. It's how you can draw fans, it's how you build a legacy in the boxing world (fighting the best, interacting well with the public, inspiring others). Really, Clottey Williams and recently Cotto are the only ones worth talking about in his 40 fights probably. Look at Bhop, despite having 20+ title defenses, it wasn't until he beat Trinidad and DLH that he got some respect, and even then, beating Tarver and Pavlik and he still don't get his (he can't market nor call shots like pre-Calzaghe Roy Jones). Marvin Hagler was the same, it took him forever to get true title shots. You shouuldn't complain about it, accept reality, some fighters are marketable, some aren't. Manny Pacquiao had to fight quite a FEW career defining fights before he made his way into the mainstream and as an automatic shoe in for big money fights. He didn't just beat Barrerra and get all bitchy and whiny about his next opponent. Now he is a household name. You think if I walk down the street and ask the regular person who Antonio Margarito is or who Vernon Forrest is, they'll know? Probably not, and they both have been champions before. Some pple might know Sugar Shane from media, or his name, or his being in Knockout Kings the video game. So having fought one big money fight (Cotto) does not make him the one to call for money. It makes him look spoiled. "already been the hungry fighter". You know what happens when a champion loses his hunger? He loses.
4.) What more do I want? I want Margarito, now that he is a big name, to fight the big names, even again: Clottey, williams, cotto, angulo, mosley, judah (if he ever gets his act together), corley.
If margarito fights these guys then he will earn my respect. I am critical of him only b/c he has not won me as a fan yet. He won me as a respectable fighter, but again people's champion fights for the fans (Ali), a belt holder just fights for money or his ego.Comment

It's just ridiculous listening to some of these guys cry about Margarito NEGOTIATING. Margarito...yeah, a champ of SIX years who never once whined about money, never once made some absurd demands and earned his position the old fashioned way. And the fight still got done. In the past two years alone:it was an added 500k towards Tony's side so
