You are correct however in stating that he has not tested his skill against the best competition.. But rather chose to exhibit his skills against less than stellar opponents...
His career is somewhat a CON.. but that's the thing with CONS.. a lot of people are ****** and fall for it..what can you do?

Floyd can do better in his career with the talent that he has but he's got other ideas. In that sense, he's both overrated and at the same time underrated. He hasn't worked to his potential.
He needs more work with his legacy before he can compare himself with the likes of true ATG's like Robinson or Leonard.Comment

He's a con because he didn't fight Cotto or Margarito? If that's the case more than half of the greats are cons. When the fight with Cotto could have been made his handlers said he needed a few more fights. Look through the history of boxing every champion didn't fight all challengers.He is NOT overrated in terms of skill..

PBF is a very gifted fighter no doubt but even PBF fans need to realize he didn't face the stiffest competition. His best win was Corrales- Corrales was a fighter who was in his weight class and was the consensus #1 threat in his class and he destroyed him. As you look back Corrales was a good fighter but no where near great. After this he ducked and dodged his way to the top. Bottom line he never faced Casamayor,Freitas or Tzyu in the lighter weight classes. Then he was considered the best 47lb fighter but never beat a legit ranked 47lb in his last year of his carrer
The ****** arguement of being a 6 time world champ nowadays doesn't mean S***. DLH is a 6 time champ so is he the best fighter of all-time...of course not...Gatti was a 2 time world champ...NUFF SAID...Just look at PBF's victories for those belts...It really isn't that impressive if you look at it. I could tell you don't even take yourself seriously so to take a discussion seriously is too much for you but here goes nothing.. EVERYBODY including Hatton and De La Hoya that Mayweather fought from 140-154, **** even 135 Miguel Cotto would have demolished them all and worse. guys Mayweather made look good like Corley Cotto comes and stops them for the 1st time ever in their careers. the guys he beat were not on Cotto or Floyds level, he beat Arturo ****ing Gatti for one of those 6 world titles and we all know the deal with Gatti, a lot of heart and a good brawler but well past it when fighting Floyd.
another guy is Baldomir, the guy gets lucky against Judah which gives him a crack at someone he was never supposed to be in contention to face, he caught a lucky one there because that slot could have been filled by Cotto or Shane and even still he couldn't KO him.. back to his very 1st title, against Genaro Hernandez you think he was the same? after De La Hoya beat the **** out of Genaro? as is Genaro was a strong puncher with not nearly as much skills as Floyd and after the fight he retired, he was THAT much at the end of it.
then comes Diego (R.I.P) whom I feel was the ONLY legitimate prime fighter Floyd has faced period. he beats Diego and makes me a believer of the Mayweather name, fine. he then fights Jose Luis Castillo for his 2nd world title in 2 divisions, he losses the fight but is given the fight just like Oscar-Sturm and then comes back and makes it look nicer, cool, I can respect the fact he fought him again to erase any doubt, this was a time where I respected him most.. BUT what happens? instead of going for guys like Casamayor, Barrera, Morales and the Prince he fights N'dou and Sosa, he had all those other mega stars to face but chose to face those names..
he then goes to 140 and has trouble against Corley, outclasses Bruseles as expected and goes on for his 3rd world title in a 3rd weight class against.. Gatti? not Tszyu or Hatton but Gatti? well as expected he demolishes Gatti and since THAT fight he has been choosing and picking his opponents VERY carefully looking only for money.. Cotto could have beaten ALL of these guys I just named and he beat most of the good ones Floyd faced already. the whole point here is don't sit here and act like Cotto couldn't do what Floyd did had he fought those fights instead of Floyd because he would have done it and much sooner than what Floyd did. Floyd ISN'T a bum but don't sit here and act like he ran threw the Casamayor, Freitas or Nassem Hameds of the division, he fought 1 solid champion, lost and came back and won and then didn't look at no one else he just bounced to take on lesser challenges.
Cotto could have done it but as a TRUE fighter he is he fights the toughest fights to prove his worth regardless of who or what or how much he just wants to win against only the best and so he has. don't sit here and bash Cotto then turn around and glorify Floyd because if Cotto ONLY fought the guys Mayweather fought on the days Mayweather fought them he would be 39-0 as well with as many titles in as many weights, believe that..Comment
