To top it all off... he has one good win to hang his hat on. The other big wins were bad decisions (Oscar), or against shot fighters (Vargas).

Oh yeah, and he got schooled in 3 of his 5 losses (Forrest I, Wright I and Wright II).

STILL don't get all the hype about Shane Mosley's career.
I'm most positive the respect comes from his classy attitude and his fan friendly style more than his record.

I haven't been too big on this fight from the moment I first heard about it.

      Good news!!
sometimes I let my anger get the best of me, I may have stepped out of context and said some things about Shane and Margarito but deep down inside I will always respect them fight or no fight. it took a large set of balls to do to Cotto what Margarito did and to stand up to Miguel like Shane did especially so far past his prime with Cotto at his peak, they are both worthy of respect overall I just didn't respect the fact that this fight would be called off due to money, I don't respect it from Jones Jr-Hopkins and I don't respect it here u feel me. it seems though that negotiations have been made in time and the fight will go threw, I CAN respect that.. it's worth taking back some of the harsh things I said about these guys if they can muster up the willpower to put all bull**** aside and fight, come to an agreement and get it in, that's worthy of my respect.. however I'll believe it when I hear that 1st round bell ring

This is good news. Mosley vs. Margarito is an interesting matchup!

The idea of Margarito taking a full year off when he's at his peak, not fighting until summer 2009, makes no sense at all.

I seriously think Shane has about as close to 0 chance as a boxer can have going into a fight that is supposively going to be competitive.

I mean, really... Here is how Shane fights:

He stands in front of you, and throws power punches really fast. He has good stamina, and not much punching power.

Here is how Margarito nullifies every bit of that.

Margarito has stamina that will make Mosley look like he has the punch output of a heavyweight. Throwing that many punches means they are either landing or being blocked (which still helps Margarito, because that wears a fight down to block punches).

Anything Shane lands is going to make Margarito laugh at him, because Margarito's chin can take 10X what Shane can land on him.

Basically, Shane gets outworked by a 9-3 or 8-4 decision, or even more likely, I think he gets worn down to the point of being stopped. I know Mosley has a good chin, but I think he will be so tired in the end that his body will just shut down in an attempt to make the punishment stop.

Shane has the speed to win it, but... he would have to fight in a slick boxer kind of paradigm to win it based on speed. Unfortunately, he fights like a slugger, which is the best style that Margarito can ask for.

Margarito wins this one big... mark my words.

Great point lunney, I didnt really want to see Rito take a year off because he is hot right now and he need to take advantage of it, So am glad they have come to some sort of agreement.
