    Mr. Brent Matteo Alderson

Brent Matteo, it seems that I spot errors innevery thinh you write. It is interestuing to hear that you wree acteacher, because I also was, in a way, althoughnI didn';tr teach in a school as you did, getting down in the trenches we used to say.

You mention that Lennox Lewis was such a classy guy coming over to pay his respects to Marvin Johnson. Let me tell you YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY WRONG.

Everybody in boxing knows about Marvin Johnson. Even egomaniacs like Lewis....

What REALLY happened, and when you think about it you'll see it's more
likely to be correct than your original postulation.

Lewis, always looking to put himself in front of an audience, particularly a microphone, was lonely, and seeing you interviewing a modest looking person, ASKED someone who is that being interviewed, and found out it was Marvin Johnson. )) You'll notice that he didn't mention any of Marvin"s spectacular fights.........)) He came over, horned in,then HE TOOK OVER THE ENTIRE INTERVIEW........Absolutely. From your description, that's exactly what happened, and he kept it up, mainly talking about himself, right until the dinner was announced.

    PHOOEY !!

Sure he might have got hit by a few punches by Spinx, but that does not mean they would have been straight & clean like the the Tarver II punch. Jones' reflexes, especially defensively had slown down tremendously by that time and he most likely would have never got clipped like that 2 fights prior. The obvious sign things changed was noticed in Tarver-Jones I. Had you ever seen Rjj sit back on the ropes and allow a guy to tee off on him before? It just never happened, something changed. I'm not sure if he changed mentally or if he felt tired and was not confident in his endurance anymore, but something was obviously wrong. One thing was certain watching that fight, he was not even the same guy that fought Ruiz @ heavyweight. Jones at his best displayed Wittaker footwork with Ray Robinson accuracy and combinations. Put those together and at one time you have the best to ever lace em' up. I just have a hard time thinking anybody was better at Light Heavyweight.

Note* I did pick Jones to win from a TKO, but I could have been a little stuck in the good old Jones days. I called an early KD and a 6th round TKO. I was not too far off calling that because he did land a great uppercut in that round, it was just that Joe has a granite chin that it did'nt go like I saw it with my biased eyes. Good read & prediction though, props to ya.
You are I are of the same opinions on so many boxing issues/

I wasn't interviewing Johnson, I was just setting there hanging out. I had mentioned how big Lewis was and informed Marvin that I had worked with a lady that grew up with him. When Lewis came over, I was just standing there. Lewis doesn't need attention he gets enough of it. Lewis came over to show repect to a fellow Gladiator, ita a bond that transcends many things. Look at Mike Tyson, he has displayed racist behavior on numerous occassions, but when Scott LeDeux's wife was sick with cancer, Mike payed Scott to be a sparring partner even though Scott wasn't giving Mike solid work he told his trainer, "keep him on the pay roll." Don't be such a hater, Lewis is classy, probably a lot more so than Evander Holyfield, a guy that would praise Jesus and inscribe bible verses everywhere and then **** everything he could. I'm not saying chasing women is bad, its the funnest thing in the world, but don't preach and talk the talk if you can't walk the walk.
