That's the most absurd **** I've heard today, Cal beat Hop because he adjusted in the middle rounds and consistantly beat him to the punch. It had nothing to do with color it had everything to do with Hop taking rounds off against a guy that has great stamina.

I think Joe has a very good workrate, but didn't you notice it wasn't really until the Old Man tired out that Joe started to really win those rounds. That's why Grandpa started to hold a lot more and buy time. He wasn't hurt, except in the stamina department.

Hopkins hasn't had the same stamina in quite some time; maybe 7-8 years or so. He used to just take off the first 5 or so rounds to conserve energy but in that fight he started fighting from the first round. I'm not sure he had a choice in the matter though because Joe can fight hard for all 12; so maybe he considered that.

Hopkins back in the day, prior to Tito, and even with Tito, could fight from round one.

I heard Hearns wasn't a knockout artist in the amatuers until he went to Emmanuel Steward who corrected him and showed him how to plant his feet for power.

I actually don't think Zab's potential is overrated at all. Just watching the first few rounds of him against Floyd show's what he's capable of at his best. Even against Cotto, I forget which round but I remember him throwing the most perfectly timed and explosively powerful uppercut as Cotto came in. **** was a thing of beauty.

I never thought his defense was spectacular and don't think its widely regarded that way. But when it comes to his powerpunching from all angles, and his explosive speed throwing those bombs, he is seriously second to no one. Very few fighters can throw an super quick, super powerful shot from all angles. He breaks my heart every time he fights.

I agree with that assessment about Zab, and I believe it was the 1st round against Cotto. Seriously, who leads with an uppercut and actually scores?? That thing was one of the greatest improvised punches I've seen.

The thing with Zab is that he's very inconsistent. So it's easy to say he's overrated when he's fighting like he'd rather be somewhere else.

At one point these had elements of truth to them...like wen he fought mayweather he was just as fast if not faster than mayweather but just let himself go and was terribly conditioned...he was his own worst enemy because he has potential but never did enough to discover his tru greatness and match the statements made
