Am tellin yer Ricky's vision is preper rubbish, e can't see the side of a barn from t'inside t'fookin barn. That's why I tailored me trainin so as e could it the fookin body belt cos it were bigger than t'hand pads. Don't know why e were so blind, could be all t'fookin wankin.
How bad is Hattons vision?

You can't wear contacts while boxing. It's almost inevitable they will get dislodged, and some types could cause permanent damage. It's actually against ABA rules; I assume it's the same for the pros. The laser op is the only real solution; Bruno had that done, I think.
Actually, you really have to be pretty short sighted for it to be a major problem in boxing - I know because I passed from one side to the other as my eyes got worse in my teens. I had a lot more trouble with rugby... you can't catch the frigging ball if you never see it thrown at you. In boxing, your opponent is close and his gloves are the big red things....Last edited by The_Visitation; 11-23-2008, 06:15 PM.Comment

I dont think you can go 12 rounds without headgear with contacts on. But I am curious to know what the most experienced people here think/know.Comment

That's the other problem, of course... losing one. You could miss the big punch from that side before you even knew it was missing - lens wearers will know that you compensate very quickly to favour the other eye (without the peripheral vision, of course) and it can sometimes take a while to even notice.Comment

i would imagine that daily disposables would be ok for sparring as they are almost jelly like and so wouldnt scratch the eye at all.
the harder contacts would be a no go.
Im seriously short sighted, as in i cant see the length of my arm clearly without glasses which is why ive never taken up boxing :P "your hands cant hit what your eyes cant see".
happy watching thoughComment

How bad were your eyes? my eyes are like -3.00 right now, i spar without contacts its kinda impossible to spar with contacts.. anyways the reason i asked you about your eyes is cuz i wanna know if they will let me fight with these eyesComment

can't you wear daily disposable (soft) contact lenses.
I can't see them damaging the eye. I can see them flying out during the fight but not actually damaging the eye.
If your eye started to swell you could just take it out.Comment
