Some people really do baffle the mind.

A career light-welterweight is not likely to move down to lightweight is he?.

Come on, engage your brain please.

Are u baffled or not? Do you realize that Hatton has fought from 138-147...whats so baffling to think he might want to fight at 135...I mean the math isnt that astronomical. 5 pounds? oh and yes fighters move up and down in weight for challenges and or money or belts.

As for going up at WW, he should forget about it.
There was this guy once ..his name was Antonio Margarito ...this guy fought some other guy named Daniel Santos at 154..lost and went down in weight to 147 later losing to a boxer named Paul Willaims and then beating an unbeaten super star named Miguel Cotto.
Oh to answer ur question Why? For money, a belt? the challenge? the fans?
and or simply to fight someone smaller to have an edge.

Richard Hatton's career low weight was 139.

He wouldn't even fathom going down to lightweight.

            Possible lightweight opp.

            Juan Manuel Marquez
            Nate Campbell
            Manny Pacquiao
            Juan Guzman

            Possible welterweight opp.

            Margarito
            Cotto
            Berto
            Cintron
he should stay at jr welterweight and fight welterweights at a catchweight and call up 135lbers to 140.

Naw Hatton is at his best at 140, He'd almost kill himself to make 135. I think we can all agree that147 is not for him problem is all the big names are at 147, But I think he should call out JMM and Manny P at 140.

Thats exactly what Im saying...140 is lacking in star power..while big names are above and below him(and for you guys that dont care about intersting matches and fights....the MONEY is there too).

He has fought 4-5 times at 138...boxrec.com. and many fights at 139....3-4 pounds is not exactly that great...I would lose 20 for a million. If not he can man-up and head back to 147 and strategically pick some light hitting WW's. Or he can stay at 140 and we can see some boring no name matches...i guess what ever makes him more money.

                    No he hasn't:

                    http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php...9314&cat=boxer

He would be dead at 135.
