Oscar De la Hoya is a cancer, he has ruined some possible great fights.

If it wasn't for De la Hoya wanting to pick on the little guys, we could have witnessed one of the greatest fights of the last who knows how many years. I'm talking about Manny Pacquaio vs. Ricky Hatton. Imagine that mouth watering prospect at the stage the two fighters are currently at.

In my eyes, if boxing was to work out properly and De la Hoya was interested in more than just his bank balance, here's the ideal scenario that would have worked out. Hatton vs. Pacquaio (possible fight of the century!), De la Hoya vs. Antonio Margarito (chicken DLH). The winner of the Hatton, Pacquaio fight would go on to face a come-backing Floyd Mayweather Jr. and the winner of the De la Hoya, Margarito fight would face Miguel Cotto.

That should be the scenario we're looking at right now. The only reason we aren't is because De la Hoya is only interested in the most money along with the littlest risk. The more I think about this, it actually makes me sick. People like him do no good for boxing. They act like they love boxing more than anyone, well why doesn't he show it by putting on some exciting, competitive fights?

I do not get excited by the thought of De la Hoya vs. Pacquiao, or De la Hoya vs. Hatton. These fights should not be happening. I do not believe for 1 second all the talk of De la Hoya weighing 146 right now. I think he's much bigger, and must weigh alot more than that. Wouldn't even surprise me if they let him come in over the specified weight for the Pacquiao fight.

It would be like Joe Calzaghe calling out Miguel Cotto and Floyd Mayweather.

Great post, agree on all counts.

De la Hoya is a promoter now, he has to look out for his company first and the sport second. I think he's being a puss in wanting to drop 2 weight classes to fight Pacman to "avenge his Mexican brothers" or whatever he was talking about. I think his jab will wreck Pacquiao, just like Barrera's did to Hamed, and it'll be another great fighter who never looked the same afterward.

I hate OScar...All he cares about is the money, he ain't worried about fighting the best...Most bothersome is how he contradict himself daily: I'll never fight a Puerto Rican but then said he'd the winner of cotto-Margo then says a while ago Hatton is too small now he wants to fight him? If hatton was 2 small then what is Pacquiao? Promised Margo he'd fight him in the future after sparring with him but now he runs fron him!He is a HUGE FRAUD and I'm just praying Pacquiao can beat him!

I think people are missing the fact that Pacman didn't have to take this fight, he chose to!
