and no one is ever going to convince me otherwise. Its the same with Manny Steward. Anybody can look good when they always get the top fighters but even still then they dont make them look better. They always look worse. McGirt doesnt even look like a amature trainer at this point. I say this because he always has the worst game plans. Its like he does the opposite of what everyone knows you should do. He actually set the game plan for Gatti to try to outbox Floyd. Come on now. Everyone knew that Gatti had no chance to win like that. He wasnt going to win anyway but why not make a brawl out of it. Then you have Paulie. I use to say he was the white/Italian version of Sweet Pea & Spinks but his D isnt as good. I agree with Lederman. He didnt recognize Paulie and neither did I.
Paulie use to box so fast and stayed on the move. He was just like a right hand Spinks. He always moved and circled the whole fight while throwing alot of punches. McGirt didnt train Paulie for the Cotto fight but everyone was shocked why Paulie decided to stand in front of Cotto when he never did that in his previous fights but he blamed it on the ring being small. They add McGirt and they kill N'Dou with there movement but since then he's had Paulie standing still again. He fights Hatton and looks so basic now. He looks like such an average fighter and I dont care what Merchant says, he is a different cat now. He never tried to move or circle like he did when he was coming up. I guess they tried to do Hatton like Floyd did but Paulie's D isnt as good so it doesnt work. He has to move. McGirt is horrible right now and that game plan was terrible. Not to mention you stop the fight at the end of the 11th round? What the hell was that? Either stop it earlier or let the fight finish.
Also, Im totally not dissin Hatton. I was torn coming into this fight because I love Paulie since he's a pure boxer and no one likes them anymore but I also wanted Hatton to win because he has Sr. training him now. Really I would love for Paulie to go get Sr. or Roger to train him because he's there style of fighter
