There's no WAY he could take Cotto's punches.

Plus, Cotto's jab would have him backing off from the get go. Than he might try and outbox Cotto...oh guess what, he can't do that either.
nah, a weight drained cotto can't beat hatton.

Yea, he definitely can. Cotto is a stylistic NIGHTMARE for Hatton, at any weight. The fight wouldn't go long enough for stamina problems to happen.

And Torres is faster, and punches harder than Hatton. Sure, maybe if Hatton lands a PERFECT temple shot, he could stagger Cotto. That doesn't mean he can beat him. Hatton is not walking through Cotto's jab, he just isn't.

It's easy to just say Cotto was weight drained, but think about the actual fight. Think about what Hatton would have to do to fight his fight. How is he getting inside past Cotto's powerful, accurate jab? If he does get inside...is he a better inside fighter than Cotto? If he is, it's not by much. Hatton leaves himself WIDE OPEN to left hooks, and Mayweather knocked his ass out catching him coming in with a left hook. Hatton couldn't just eat Cotto's jab/left hook. He just couldn't do it, and Cotto being weight drained has nothing to do with that.

you make good points but hatton chin is decent and cotto likes hooking to the body. he doesn't throw the check hook. but cotto's chinniness at 140 + his stamina problems + hatton's pressure means cotto loses at 140.

At 147 cotto is just too strong for hatton.

Hatton wouldn't be able to pressure Cotto, that's my point. If he pressures Cotto he gets countered by a guy that hits harder than anyone he has ever faced.

We're just gonna have to agree to disagree.

So how on earth did Ricky beat KT then, a guy who hits way harder than cotto? Ricky would struggle if Cotto landed the left frequently, but a bit more tightengin on the defence and this would be a close call.

At 147 the size disparity would lead me to favour Cotto though.

Hatton-Cotto. Good fight, I think. They are really just about the same size.

Too many lighter weight classes separated by ridiculous couple of pounds, while meanwhile heavyweights are expected to spot 50 or 100 pounds!

yea agree to disagree, but cotto hooks to the body, he doesn't throw the check hook. cotto jab is good and strong, but even floyd couldn't jab against hatton's pressure, I don't think cotto could. cotto's stamina is not great at 147 it's worse at 140. those are my reasons.

cotto whups hatton something fierce at 147 though.
